Comak Bros. keeps winning the local popular vote. Northshore Magazine's readers' choice home awards named the Peabody landscaper in both 2024 and 2025; the 2025 write-up describes a company that carries customers "from the first phone call until the final stone is placed", and the 2024 entry singled out its outdoor-living work — built-in kitchens with real appliances, grills and smokers, patio heaters. The work itself is the heavy end of landscaping: hardscape and masonry, patios and pavers, retaining walls, concrete, fire pits and outdoor fireplaces, pool landscaping and pool construction, lighting, irrigation and sprinkler systems, and ongoing maintenance. Jobs on its Houzz page are quoted anywhere from $2,000 to a million. There's a municipal side too. Gloucester's city council approved payment in 2019 for invoices covering sprinkler servicing at city facilities. In an October 2023 conservation hearing, co-owner Bruce Comak told the commission he would not take a driveway job unless it was built as a completely pervious surface, with silt fence and erosion control around the site — a useful glimpse of how the firm handles a permitting question. The gap is customer writing. No reviews appear on its Houzz page and none surfaced anywhere else, so there is no first-hand account of a finished job here, and no rating is given. For a patio, a wall or a pool surround on the North Shore, this is a fair shortlist candidate. Ask to walk two comparable finished landscapes, and get the plan, materials and schedule priced in writing before work starts.
