A landscape contractor whose Procore projects average $11.7 million apiece is not the outfit you call to mow a lawn — though Emanouil Brothers will do that too. The Chelmsford company works from 14 Kidder Rd, with a second address on Progress Ave and, by the Better Business Bureau's count, about 70 employees. Its own site describes it as family-owned and founded in 1986; BBB's file says the corporation was established and incorporated in Massachusetts in 1983, which puts the tenure at either 39 or 43 years depending on which you take. The work splits cleanly. On the commercial side — the side those numbers describe — it covers grounds maintenance, landscape construction, earthwork, irrigation, tree and shrub care and snow removal for businesses and HOAs, and Procore lists it as a general contractor working across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Maine and Rhode Island, with 28 projects logged since April 2022. The American Society of Landscape Architects credits the company as landscape contractor on a published project, and the firm says it won an ASLA Honor Award in 2010. Homeowners get the full menu as well: lawn programs, plantings, patios and walkways, fire pits and pergolas, mosquito and tick control. For credentials it points to memberships in the Massachusetts Nursery & Landscape Association and the Tree Care Industry Association, plus certification as a Flexi-Pave installer. Those are memberships and a manufacturer certification rather than licences, and none of them has been checked against an issuing body here. Two things to raise before signing. The site advertises an 'A+ Rating From BBB', while the BBB page itself carries no grade and says it lacks sufficient information to issue one — that is the company overstating a third party, and it is fair to ask about. And BBB records a one-season guarantee on residential jobs, with commercial contracts generally carrying a one-year maintenance agreement; get whichever applies written into your proposal, since it varies by contract. The honest limit: for a business this large and this long-established, there is nothing written by customers to read. Judge them on the commercial project record, on the two Chelmsford yards you can drive past, and on references for work like yours.
