Verified record
Everstone Masonry is a West Roxbury/Quincy mason that says it's covered repointing, chimneys, patios, retaining walls, stairs and foundation waterproofing across eastern Massachusetts since 2006 — but that claim doesn't square with the company's own BBB record, which shows it was incorporated in November 2023. The written record is thin — three Angi reviews, all from 2022 — and split. Two five-star reviews from mid-2022 describe good communication and quality work: one homeowner said the crew explained everything and their brick steps 'look great,' and another called the project 'top notch,' noting the crew finished early and rescheduled the final walkthrough more than once to fit their schedule. The third, a detailed two-star review from September 2022, described a $38,000 foundation job where the crew piled gravel and sand into the flower beds instead of hauling it away — killing several trees, bushes and a bed of ferns — buried a water fountain under rubble, and splashed poured concrete on the house's wooden siding. There's also a licensing red flag: BuildZoom reports the company's Massachusetts home improvement contractor license (210247) — the same number on the company's own site — as inactive, citing state consumer affairs records that show it was at one point cancelled. Given the licence status and the mismatch between the company's stated history and its actual incorporation date, it's worth confirming current registration directly with the state and getting recent references before signing a contract, especially for a large job.
The crew worked hard on a challenging foundation project priced at $38,000. However, they left the site a disaster area, piling up gravel and sand into the flower beds rather than hauling it away. This killed several expensive trees and bushes as well as whole beds of fern and caused irredeemable damage to the flower beds according to the local gardening expert brought in to assess the mess. A water fountain was covered over until it could no longer be seen with piles of rubble and mulch. The concrete that they poured is splashed on the wooden siding of our house up to 3 feet high and across granite paving stones of the patios. They used my front porch broom to try to clean up some of the dirt on the patio and broke the metal handle in half, leaving it on the front porch in two pieces. A storm window and 2 clay pots were also broken. Upon doing a walkthrough of the site at our request, the owner offered to knock $2k off the price of the project. Our gardener priced the clean-up of the garden beds and patio stones alone at $3,800, and Everstone Masonry's owner agreed to knock that off the price of the project in recompense.
Everything was explained to me what they were going to do. They did that and more. My brick steps look great.
The project was top notch to high standards. Guys were great to work with. But not only did they finish the project early they consistently showed up on time and were willing to reschedule the final walk-through multiple times to accommodate our schedule. Final project turned out great will definitely be hiring again in the future.
