MDLA is not a company you'd call to install a paver patio or mow the lawn. It's a landscape architecture practice, run by principal Michael D'Angelo out of Boston since 2014, that designs outdoor spaces for multifamily developments, corporate campuses, and select single-family homes. The design work draws real praise: on HGTV, clients credit the firm's ability to steer a project from first sketch through construction, working alongside craftsmen and contractors rather than building it themselves. Its principal has also been quoted explaining plan revisions to a town historical commission for a residential project earlier this year, the kind of work a landscape architect gets pulled into, not an installation crew. The name shows up as landscape architect of record on multi-family and institutional developments around Boston as well. Google shows a 5-star rating from 5 ratings, and Houzz lists a perfect 5.0 across 10 reviews with no complaints on file, but almost none of that arrived as actual review text, just aggregate scores, so there isn't much of a paper trail to check beyond the numbers. Before calling, get clear on what's actually being hired: MDLA designs, plans, renderings, site layouts, concept-to-construction guidance, and leans on outside contractors to build and plant what it designs. If the job is a design package, a master plan, or a renovation concept, that's squarely their lane. If what's wanted is a crew that shows up and installs or maintains a landscape directly, this isn't that, and it's worth asking upfront who actually handles the build.

Not only the best but one of the easiest landscape architects to work with and create amazing projects. Great designs and quick to respond and make updates as needed. If you haven't worked with them yet, do yourself a favor and reach out to them on your next project.
