855-RILawns is a lawn care company whose website lists mowing, spring and fall cleanups, gutter cleaning, fertilization, mosquito and tick control, mulch delivery and lawn mower repair. The company says it has been in business 25 years, and its website names Cranston, East Providence, Johnston, North Providence and Providence among the towns it serves. Its Houzz profile says founder Justin started it in 2001 as A Cut Above Lawn Mowing Services. On Google it holds 4.8 stars from 363 ratings. A recent customer thanked Steve, Areej, Efrain and Javier for mowing, cleaning out beds and weeding, and said the garden looks beautiful. A recent customer said the company repaired a John Deere riding mower, mowed the lawn weekly while it was in for service, and was prompt and on schedule. Price and follow-through are where things went wrong. A recent customer on a monthly plan said the company announced a 40% increase mid-season, from $225 to $315 a month, and they cancelled. They also said their mulched beds were riddled with weeds that came back immediately after mulching. A recent customer who asked about yard work and weekly lawn service said they waited over a week for a phone consult and never heard back about the quote Steve said he would send. A 2025 customer said prices went up twice in their first year. In that 2025 review, the customer said Steve declined to come look at a dying lawn, calling it summer stress, and later ended the service; the customer said they found a grub infestation on their own. A 2016 customer on Houzz said damage to a pipe and lawn from recent work had not been addressed after three contacts and three weeks of waiting.

“855-RILawns donated 24-plus hours to a sick North Providence couple in need of serious help with overgrown yard.”
Put in a request for a consult for some yard work and weekly lawn service and had to wait over a week just for a phone call consult. Finally had the consult and spoke with Steve who assured me he would get a quote out to me ASAP. I waited 5 days and emailed Steve to see about the quote and never heard back. Basically a big waste of my time.
I continue to receive excellent service from RI Lawns! Mowing, cleaning out beds, weeding! My garden looks beautiful. Thank you Steve, Areej, Efrain and Javier. You are the best!
In August, I received a “Service Pricing Update” notifying me of a 40% increase in my monthly payment for lawn service, effective the following month, September 2026. The email stated it was due to increased material, insurance, and labor costs; they also stated that they had under estimated the man hours for my property (mind you they have been working on my property for multiple seasons and should’ve caught it before this season). I signed a contract in February for a $225 recurring monthly payment covering a spring and fall clean up and a weekly mowing, which spanned a 12-month payment period. In the email in August, they wanted to increase that to $315 a month. A mid-season 40% price increase is simply unacceptable. I had to cancel my service, because I couldn’t afford it. Additionally, I had my beds mulched earlier in the season — they’ve done this service twice before and it came out great, kept weeds in check, decent quality mulch. This year my beds are riddled with weeds that came back immediately after mulching and are now overgrown. I’d asked them to do it because I’m facing health issues that limit my ability to do yard work, and mulching has historically kept weeds at bay. It was just really disappointing based on their previous work, especially for what I had paid for this project (it was outside of my monthly plan). I’ve since signed on with a smaller operation that has pricing transparency and gave me a guarantee that pricing does not change mid-season. They also only charge per visit and prioritize the health of your lawn based on weather and growth patterns. I don’t know what’s happened with RI Lawns, but it was really disappointing to be treated the way I was after doing business with them the past few years.
Excellent - these guys are the Pros! I needed a big repair to my John Deere riding mower, and lawn mowing while it was in for service. They did a fantastic job repairing my equipment and delivered it back to me like it was new. Their prices are very fair, and they did a great job mowing my lawn weekly. They were also very prompt and on schedule- I couldn't ask for better. I will definitely use them again in the future.
This was my first year with RI Lawns. I have always done the lawn myself but I figured I would try a professional lawn service to improve my lawn. During my first year with RI Lawns they have raised their prices twice. About a month ago my lawn started to die. I reached out to Steve 3 different times and sent pictures asking him to come and look at it. Steve refused indicating it was just summer stress . The problem just kept getting worse. A week ago I went to my grandsons soccer game and the field was plush. I sent Steve a picture and asked him what are they doing that we are not. Steve’s response was that we needed to part ways and RI Lawns would no longer service me. After some investigation on my own I found out I have a Grub infestation. I have taken steps to kill the grubs and will go back to doing the lawn myself. Very dissatisfied with Steve and RI Lawns
