When a tree fell across one recent customer's driveway, the owner, Steve, came out right away and cleared the entire driveway himself, that customer said. A-1 Tree Service says on its website it has been in the business more than 25 years, and it lists a service area of Waterbury, Torrington, Bristol, Turner, Thomaston, Litchfield, New Haven and Hartford. One recent customer said Steve was at the house within 2 hours of a call for a tree-removal estimate, and that he and his team came back the following morning to cut down 5 large trees in the backyard. A customer writing recently said all trees and stumps were removed along with additional debris, leaving the area clean. A 2025 customer in the Litchfield hills said Steve addressed concerns about dead oak and hickory limbs and two dead standing trees, and that his crew came out a few days later. That 2025 customer said the wood they chose to keep was cut into small logs and stacked in neat piles. A 2024 customer said Steve came by after a large limb fell, told them the tree was solid, and removed the limb wedged in the fence without charging. A 2024 customer wrote that another tree service had said the job was too big, and that Kevin, the climber and feller, brought down two large pines.
