Abbott Electrical Contractors is a small owner-run electrical shop based in North Billerica, working Middlesex County and the Merrimack Valley. Massachusetts lists its electrician licence, number 8709, as active under Abbott Electrical Contractors LLC — the company's own name, not a personal one. Owner Travis Abbott has run it since 2017, and its directory profile says nine years in business with a background check on file. The written record is small and dated: five reviews from 2017 to 2019 on one directory, all five stars, plus a couple of open-web comments. What those customers wrote is unusually specific for a five-star set. A reviewer in November 2018 said Travis's electrical work was 'incredibly neat' and that he was hired for rough electrical, recessed lighting and help on a large remodel, adding that the pricing was fair. A January 2019 customer listed four separate jobs — hot-tub panel installation and wiring, an outdoor outlet, a house ground-wiring evaluation and repair, and an electric subpanel reconfiguration — and said his construction knowledge goes well past electrical. Another January 2019 reviewer described a fault that was not cut and dry, and a patient walk through what previous contractors had already tried. The stated range is wide for a one-person shop: panel and subpanel work, wiring installation, lighting including under-cabinet and accent LED, generators, fans, switches and outlets, smart-home and Nest installation, and TV mounting. The business also says it holds Home Improvement licensure alongside the electrical one, and lists fire-alarm training. What is missing is recency. Nothing in the customer record is newer than January 2019, and a Reddit commenter in March 2025 vouched for the business only in passing. Ask for recent references and confirm the current scope of the licence before a large job. A reasonable call for residential electrical work around Billerica, Chelmsford, Lowell and the Route 3 towns, particularly panel, wiring and lighting jobs where the owner does the work himself.
“https://abbottcontractors.com Super cool guy, does a great job.”
“Travis was great! A big storm left us with an urgent electrical issue which he was able to quickly handle.”
Travis was incredibly helpful in both troubleshooting and solving my electrical problem. The issue was not cut and dry and Travis was patient and thoughtful in coming up with an efficient path forward. He took the time to listen to what was already tried by previous contractors and didn't mind (or didn't show that he minded) having me stare over his shoulder so I could learn a thing or two. His contractor experience would have been incredibly helpful in the event that more robust work needed to happen, but luckily he was able to figure it out! Would definitely recommend again! Very impressed.
Travis has done a few electrical projects for us now, including: 1) hot tub panel installation and wiring; 2) outdoor outlet installation; 3) house ground wiring evaluation and repairs; 4) electric subpanel reconfiguration Travis has been honest and resourceful throughout all of these projects. One thing that differentiates him is that his construction knowledge is far greater than just electric.
Travis is fair, friendly, and it's easy to see he cares about customer satisfaction.
Having worked with many contractors, I can state unequivocally that Travis is one of the most talented people out there. His electrical work is incredibly neat. Also, his breadth of knowledge on building and remodeling is unrivaled. I hired him for rough electrical work, installation of recess lighting, and to help me with a large remodeling project. The quality was A+. Lastly, his pricing is very fair.
Travis was professional and courteous when completing the electrical job that I requested. He offered a few different solutions to the various projects he was working on. I would recommend giving Travis and Abbott Contractors a call.
