Absolute Floor & Design

A runner for the basement steps, bought and installed the same day: that is how one recent customer described a visit to Absolute Floor & Design in Black Rock. The company sells and installs carpet, stair runners and floors, and says it has been in business 20 years. Its stated service area runs from Fairfield and Bridgeport to Norwalk, Shelton and Redding. According to citylifestyle.com, Sam Recupero, owner of Absolute Floor Design, and Kristin Nick of Tides Change Design joined forces as the new Absolute Floor & Design. A recent customer who had a runner put on an attic staircase said Sam was responsive and that they gave installation recommendations based on the staircase's structure; that customer also said the company refinished their second-floor hardwood floors about five years earlier. In a 2025 review, a customer said Al and Mike templated and installed a connecting runner for two flights of stairs in a 1930's home. A recent customer said that after floor prep and multiple measurements, the company confirmed the refrigerator and dishwasher would still fit under the cabinets and counter once the new kitchen floor went in, and they did. A recent customer said Vinnie restored the hardwood to a color the customer chose while other team members removed carpet and installed wood laminate. A recent customer said Sammy, the owner, came to the house to help work out area rug sizes, and later had a leopard carpet installed in a powder room. A recent customer said the installation crew was on time and that all the furniture and rugs were back where they belonged afterward. A real estate broker wrote recently of using the company on several projects in Fairfield, Southport and Trumbull. A 2026 customer said they worked with the company on a stair runner and came back three years later for a repair after a dog got into food coloring. That 2026 customer also said the company carpeted their entire basement. In a 2023 review, a customer said Sam steered them from expensive carpet chosen on the website to a more moderately priced one, and that Sam and Mike did the installation. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0672989, held by Absolute Floor Designs LLC, as inactive due to non-renewal.
