Knob-and-tube removal in an 1880s Victorian is one job a customer described hiring Adams A+ Electric to handle. Writing in February 2020, the homeowner credited Zeke and Eric with making small openings in the walls to reach the wiring and repairing those openings afterward. A September 2023 customer separately praised Richard Adams for responsiveness, flexibility, and follow-up. The Greenfield business says it provides electrical contracting in the Pioneer Valley, listing Amherst, Hadley, Northampton, Easthampton, Pelham, South Hadley, Deerfield, and Greenfield as its service area. Its website gives two different descriptions of its experience: an about statement says over 40 years, while another line says 35 years in business. Google showed a 4-star average from four ratings in September 2026. An August 2024 Google reviewer made specific complaints about work at their mother's home. The reviewer alleged that the electrician scratched a new dining table with a toolkit and concealed the scratch with a place setting, then destroyed a microwave by heating a foil-wrapped sandwich. They also said he used an exterior outlet's circuit instead of replacing an interior circuit, reducing the panel's functionality, and that they had to convince him to perform the contracted work. These are that customer's allegations about the visit.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from ADAMS APLUS ELECTRIC. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
Standard receptacle swaps — a new dedicated circuit is a bigger job ($350–$750).
Flush mounts, pendants, chandeliers — hung on existing boxes.
Estimated range
$530 – $1,100
Typical electrical project around $820
This electrician caused more $ damage to my mom’s home: He placed his toolkit on her new dining room table scratching it then hid it with a place setting Used the bathroom without asking permission, twice! Heated his foil wrapped breakfast sandwich in the microwave destroying it Worst of all He stole the circuit from an exterior outlet instead of replacing an interior circuit reducing the electric panel functionality instead of improving it I had to convince him to do the work we contracted him to do and put up with his bad attitude You are not a guest in peoples homes You are a paid service worker who destroyed personal items, acted disrespectfully and stole from us His assistant seemed absolutely horrified Do Not Hire this obnoxious Hack
Richard Adams does excellent, professional work and is responsive and flexible, does great follow-up. Truly above and beyond. Recommend 100%!
Richard Adams has some top-rate guys working for him. Zeke & Eric did a really great job removing knob & tube from my 1880's Victorian that had been updated periodically through the years. Somehow they nearly psychically knew where wires were, and made only the smallest of surgical incursions into my walls to get the job done - then fixed it afterward! They were fun to have around, too. I'm super-happy knowing my house isn't about to burn down in the night now. ;-)
