Andersen-Miller Design describes itself on its Houzz profile as a residential and landscape design firm specializing in projects that seek to be distinctive and lasting. Its Houzz profile lists LEED AP among its certifications. In a 2014 Houzz review, a client wrote of hiring the firm for three jobs over a decade: a major renovation of a 150 year-old brick row house in Boston, a design for converting an unfinished basement into a guest-room/den, and an interior redesign for a Victorian parlor, with Matt Miller handling the first two and Jon Andersen the third. In another 2014 review, Matt designed and oversaw the renovation of a Victorian Boston house, and the client wrote that "the costs were well explained and reasonable." In a 2013 review, a 14 unit condo association had selected the firm in 2011 to refresh a 4 story condo building, with hallway trim and color updates, lighting, "water-wise" planters, textured metal railings and bold exterior and interior paint colors. A 2013 review of a contemporary home in Mar Vista described a 1-year planning process and a 1-year construction process in which Matt Andersen-Miller worked closely with the family's contractor, regularly visited the site and worked with them to stay on budget. In a 2013 review of work on a condo, they made structural changes where they mattered and talked with the condo trustees about the work. A 2013 review called Matt "excellent at landscape design."

We have hired Andersen Miller Design for three consecutive jobs over the last decade: A major renovation of a 150 year-old brick row house in Boston, a design for converting an unfinished basement into a luxurious guest-room/den, and a radical interior redesign for a Victorian parlor. The first two jobs were handled by Matt Miller, and the third was by Jon Andersen. I couldn't recommend the firm more highly. We will hire them again when we have another project. Both principals are a pleasure to work with. Matt is extremely responsive to his clients' needs and wishes, yet he is not afraid to tactfully steer a client away from a bad idea (it happens!). Jon is, similarly, a good listener with a clear, and superb vision of his own. Thanks to these two men, our home is beautiful, stylish, comfortable, energy efficient, and a delight to live in.
Very happy to say how highly I value Matt Andersen-Miller and Andersen Miller Design. Andersen Miller Design excels on four dimensions that matter to me working with an architectural firm: 1. The design really pleases my eye; 2. The effect of the completed work is comfortable and functional; 3. The costs were well explained and reasonable; and 4. Matt is a delight to work with -- listens to my issues and presents new perspectives artfully. Matt designed and oversaw the renovation of my Victorian Boston house. I took great pleasure in the work and I gained great financial value when I sold the house some years later.
I have worked with Andersen Miller on my home and at work, and they did a terrific job on both. They have a wonderful sense of design while being practical, they are problem solvers and are very professional. At work, I brought them into a situation where we had a limited budget for a community building at a multi-family development, it was the 13th hour and I needed them to jump in fast and make it work. I presented Andersen Miller to my boss as the potential solution to a problem and they made me look good. Everyone was very impressed. In my home, they made my vision a reality, where they gave my modest condo real wow factor (literally - guests would walk in and say "wow") by making structural changes where they mattered tasteful finish suggestions. They even talked with the condo trustees about the work being done to help put them at ease.
Matt is great. He is artistic, yet practical. He has a wonderful way about him in general. I would recommend him for any design/architectural work....and he is also excellent at landscape design.
Matt Miller is an exceptional human. He is also an exceptional architect. He listens to his clients and delivered, at least to us, more than we could have imagined possible. He shifted the focus of our lives. ..... All this with a plan for a house. Since hiring Matt Miller, we have stayed in touch and he is now working on a second residence for us. I highly recommend Matt Miller for projects small and large-he is amazing! P.S. the house has been photographed and published in two nationally know magazines. This was a multi million dollar project.
