Israel Aponte works alone, and the reviews read like it — customer after customer names him personally rather than "the crew." A June 2025 homeowner had a bedroom ceiling replaced and window framing and trim done, and wrote that he showed up exactly when he said he would, that the finished ceiling was so clean "you can't tell that any work was done at all," and that he flagged a problem a previous installer had left so the window could be re-insulated and waterproofed. The business runs out of 1450 Phillips Road in New Bedford. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 172923, is active in the state registry under Israel Aponte's own name, and the BBB lists it as a sole proprietorship with one employee, started in 1990, rated A+ though not accredited. The site describes the company as family-owned and veteran-owned. The work is mostly the middle range between handyman and full remodel: decks and porches, doors and storm doors, trim and framing, siding, power washing, interior painting, basement waterproofing. A November 2024 customer had the house sided along with mold cleanup. An August 2022 reviewer listed a reshingled shed, repaired siding on it, a new door built from scratch, repainting, then a second door and new basement steps — and led with the thing that clearly mattered most: "I appreciate that he showed up and di the work I hired him to do." Estimates come up repeatedly as holding: a February 2022 porch-railing customer said the job was finished in reasonable time and at the quoted price. Two things to weigh. Angi and HomeAdvisor publish the same 4.6 and the same 27 reviews because they mirror each other, so the apparent agreement across two sites is really one source; nothing independent exists on Google. And of that 27, one is a 0.5-star rating from January 2020 left with no comment at all, so there is no way to know what went wrong. Eight of the written accounts are more than five years old. For small-to-mid carpentry, deck, door and siding work around New Bedford and the South Coast, this is a well-documented one-man operation with an active state registration and an unusually consistent decade of accounts. Confirm registration 172923 on the state's own site, and get the scope and price in writing up front — that is the part reviewers say he gets right.
