Best Appliance Repair says it repairs refrigerators, freezers, ice makers, washers, dryers, ovens and stoves, and it names a service area that runs from Greenwich and Stamford through Norwalk, Westport and Fairfield up to Ridgefield. The company describes itself as family owned and established in 1993. On Google it shows 4.5 stars from 8 ratings. A 2022 customer said Larry had fixed their dishwasher before, so they called him about a broken freezer. That customer wrote that he replaced the evaporator fan motor and the freezer still did not work, and that it ended up requiring a new compressor. In that 2022 review, the customer said he told them he would refund most of the approximately $400 they paid, and that nearly two months later he had not refunded the payment or answered texts asking when he would.
Be aware that according to the Patch and other newspapers, in 2018 Larry was charged in a violent road rage incident in which he allegedly injured a victim. Also, according to The Daily Voice, in late 2020 Larry was “arrested for larceny after refusing to return money to a customer after not performing repairs on an appliance.” As of this writing, this business is rated C+ by the Better Business Bureau. Larry previously fixed my dishwasher, so I called him to fix my broken freezer. He told me the evaporator fan motor needed to be replaced, but after he replaced it, the freezer still did not work. Therefore, he told me he would refund most of the approximately $400 I paid him, but it has been nearly two months and he has not refunded payment or responded to texts asking when he will refund. His misdiagnosis also caused us to go an extra two weeks with a broken freezer, since we canceled our appointment with the manufacturer’s repairer once he told us it was a small job he could fix. However, the freezer ended up requiring a new compressor. Also, Larry did not provide a home improvement contract in accordance with Connecticut General Statutes §§ 20-419(4) and 20-429.
