Camelo Landscaping

Thirty-two years working one town. Camelo Landscaping has been trading in Marblehead since April 1994 by the BBB's account, a sole proprietorship with four employees run by Julio Camelo, and its Houzz page names Marblehead as the only area it serves. The work runs wider than mowing. The BBB listing leads with lawn care, over-seeding and hydro-seeding, then adds retaining walls, stone patios, sidewalks and walkways; Houzz fills in the rest — landscape construction and maintenance, garden design, planting and tree work, aeration, hedge trimming, brush clearing, weed control, and separately masonry, brick masonry, concrete repair, fence installation and deck building. Hardscape sits alongside the greenery here, not behind it. That mix matters for one practical reason. Massachusetts exempts landscaping-only contractors from home improvement contractor registration, but a business building retaining walls, patios and walkways is doing more than landscaping, so ask whether it holds a current HIC registration and check the number with the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation before a hardscape project. The BBB gives the company an A+ with no complaints on file, though the same profile states it is not BBB accredited — a separate thing from the grade. Its listed address is a PO box rather than a street address. What is missing entirely is anyone's account of the work: no reviews on the BBB profile, none on Houzz, which says outright that it has yet to receive one. For seasonal lawn care in Marblehead this is a long-established local crew; for a wall or a patio, ask for addresses of recent jobs in town and go look at them.
