A recent Reddit commenter said they qualified for an energy audit through Capstone in Barre, and that it then did weatherization improvements to their mobile home, including blown-in insulation in the roof and underneath, and repaired all of their ductwork. In 2024, a Reddit commenter wrote "If you qualify, Capstone will do it for free," said it did their house, and said they had saved a lot on heating costs. Capstone Community Action's website lists programs such as Head Start, home visiting, classroom services and a child and adult care food program, and it says it has been in business for 61 years. On Google, it holds 4.2 stars from 154 ratings. A 2024 Google reviewer said they needed home fuel and that it was there to help. A 2022 reviewer said paperwork completed in March had still not been submitted by May, and that promised callbacks never came. A 2022 reviewer trying to reach the Head Start program said messages left with staff got no call back.

There is a shelter in Waterbury. A family shelter that has concrete floors and makes you sign one waiver after another telling you that they aren't responsible for anything that happens including injuries so if your baby or kid falls on this concrete floor and they crack their head open you're going to end up homeless and they're not going to care. I stayed there not too long ago and had to walk away because no one seemed to care. There is favoritism there. When I was there they were people smoking and shooting up and nerves stealing from other families you tell me if this is a family shelter or just a little barrier shelter where the workers don't have to do anything. They don't have to take responsibility for the people they're caring for then why even have them? On top of that living in an armory where it gets really hot during the summer almost like a microwave and I wasn't going to put my family through that. Sure for some people this is an opportunity but if you don't want to freeze the death during the winter or pretty much microwave during the summer find somewhere else I highly recommended for your own family safety just saying a shelter this is a place where the national guard store equipment not a place to live.

I have been getting the run around from Erica for a week and then telling us to come in today to fill out paperwork and never did that I feel discriminated against for certain reasons I won't say is that even legal
I am giving this a three only because I have never asked them for help. They have yet to respond ..I am a senior citizen struggling to make ends meet like many..I merely needed assistance with forms.usuallynI do but because of issues with arthritis band stress it boud be a great help
