Verified record
Certified Safe Electric has been installing solar systems across Massachusetts since 2007, with building-permit records showing 357 completed electrical and solar jobs — everything from small service panels to full residential rooftop arrays in towns from Marshfield to Hingham to South Dennis. The company's own site describes itself as a residential and commercial solar installer offering battery storage and ongoing electrical servicing, and the Better Business Bureau lists it as A+ accredited since 2008. Only two written reviews are on file, one from 2018 and one from 2020, and the more detailed of the two is worth reading closely. In it, a homeowner describes a solar installation that started leaking within three months, says the company won't honor its five-year install warranty, and reports that a complaint filed with the Massachusetts Attorney General's office has stalled. The 2018 review, from someone describing Bruce Davis as a trade subcontractor rather than a customer, called his work strong — a different kind of relationship than a homeowner hiring the company directly. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active. Before signing a contract, especially for a roof-mounted system, it's worth asking directly about warranty terms in writing and whether the 2020 dispute was ever resolved. For someone considering solar or an electrical upgrade, the permit history shows real, extensive experience — but the one detailed customer account on file describes a dispute serious enough to involve state regulators, so get the warranty specifics confirmed up front.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Certified Safe Electric. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
Standard receptacle swaps — a new dedicated circuit is a bigger job ($350–$750).
Flush mounts, pendants, chandeliers — hung on existing boxes.
Estimated range
$530 – $1,100
Typical electrical project around $820
I strongly encourage anyone considering solar to stay away from Certified Safe Electric/Solar. Though initially very impressed, I learned the hard way that they do not honor their supposed five year install warranty. They profess to be solar and roofing experts and perform a “thorough’ roof evaluation prior to install with roofers and an engineer. Three months later and I have water leaking and damaging my master bathroom. Repeated calls over three years and as always, they claim that their work as beyond reproach. Certified claims that my roof needs to be replaced completely and they will not honor their warranty to even remove the panels and reinstall saying that “my home is my problem”. But what about their evaluation that my roof was ideal for installing panels and started to fail 3 months post install? Owner never responds directly even though I invested $39,000 with them and my niece $30,000. Called in two respected roofers and another solar company; all documented roof damage from Certified Safe. Most damaging was the solar installer’s photos of “hundreds” of drilled holes into the roof to locate rafters instead of measuring out 16 inches on center. Despite this evidence and a patient approach since winter, the business has stonewalled me and the BBB. The Attorney General’s Office of MA took on the case to help resolve and even they are being stalled and ignored. Do you want to deal with this type of Customer Service when you invest $40,000 in your home?
Bruce Davis at Certified Safe Electric is our primary subcontractor. He does fantastic work and I would highly recommend him. But don't take up to much of his time, we need him! :)
