Chase Custom Homes & Finance, Inc. describes itself as a company that builds homes and offers home improvement services. A 2024 customer said they hired the company for a home addition that was supposed to take a year and was still not complete after 2.5 years. That 2024 customer said they brought in other contractors to finish the work and repair what they called shoddy workmanship, and that the garage did not meet fire code because of a gap between where the door was hung and the ceiling. A 2024 reviewer living in a subdivision wrote that the residents' deeds name Chase as the "Association" responsible for road maintenance, and that the company was now saying it is not its responsibility. A 2023 reviewer said a consultation meeting was cancelled the day before, two calls to reschedule got no word back, and they moved on to different builders. A 2021 Houzz customer who had a home built described awful communication, 3-4 project managers over the build, delays, and unprofessional behavior from the owner, John Chase. That 2021 customer also said there were no issues with the subcontractors and that the quality "for the most part is great." A 2020 Houzz customer said the company built their home, was with them from the layout to picking out paint, and hit their deadline despite setbacks from COVID-19. A 2019 customer building a first home described communication from start to finish with weekly updates. A 2019 customer said a couple of minor issues with a cabinet were addressed immediately.
This company is widely known as being shady and swindling people. The subdivision that i live in was created 20 years ago. I have been there for 10 years. Not once in The 20 years have any residents been responsible for road maintenance. It’s in all of our deeds that Chase is the “Association” and that it’s their responsibility for the maintenance. Now today they are trying to tell us that it’s not their responsibility and never has been. Next step will be to get an attorney and file a lawsuit if they don’t claim responsibility.
We hired Chase Custom Home and Finance for our home addition. Service was horrible. Project was only supposed to take a year. They were unable to complete it after 2.5 years. We had to bring in other contractors towards the end to complete the work and repair shoddy workmanship. If you are thinking of hiring them you will be better off doing the project general contracting yourself, managing the subcontractors and purchasing the material. An example of an issue we had was when the garage did not meet fire code because there was a gap between where the door was hung to the ceiling and the drywall. The project manager came in and out mud up to fill the hole where the door was hung onto the ceiling. It did not come out as I would expect work from a professional home builder.
Their services take forever
I found it a challenge to get a consultation appointment. I called to set-up a meeting, it was cancelled the day prior (which I understand), but I have called back 2x to re-schedule with no word back. This is on top of leaving a message about 6 months ago when I tried the first time with no return call. Based on this, I moved on to different builders (who were easier to meet with).
There is a lot to say about this company. We had a home built 2 years ago now and had a horrible experience with the owner John Chase and some of his crew. To be fair we never had any issues with the subcontractors and the quality for the most part is great. There are some issues that make our home far from perfect. Our biggest issues were awful communication (worse than any other construction company I have worked with), 3-4 projects managers throughout our build (lots of turnover), delays with build, and just plain unprofessional behavior from the owner, as he knew we were dissatisfied with many things. Due to COVID, our 11 month walkthrough was pushed off, which was understandable. At this point we are just waiting for one more task to be finished (my husband has been messaging for an update for weeks with no response) and we can't wait to be done with this company. I'm sure that there have been people that have been satisfied with this company but feel that people need to know that this company is far from perfect and that we wish we would have gone with a different builder.
