Chickadee Solar

Chickadee Solar was wonderful from start to finish! Shawn responded to my inquiry right away and walked me through all the options for our off-grid cabin. We did a site visit before deciding on a 6-panel array, and it was installed about a month later. Shawn has been very patient and kind in answering all our questions and helping us learn how to use the system. Going off-grid with solar has allowed us to use our cabin exponentially more, and it’s so reassuring to have a local, trusted solar company we can call with any questions or concerns.

I had an excellent solar system installed on my home in 2009 and lived completely off grid, happily and peacefully with that array, inverter and battery set up for many, many years. In 2024 I decided it was time for an upgrade on my entire system so I contacted several solar installers in my part of Maine. After discussing the project with a couple of them, I settled on one company to do the entire project – that company was Chickadee Solar in Bucksport, Maine. Deciding factors in this decision included my very thorough discussions with Shawn, the owner of Chickadee Solar, the excellent, detailed proposal Shawn developed and the remarkable responsiveness and regular communication that I received both from Shawn and from the Chickadee Solar office manager, Maya. Everything was spelled out, including all key details and dates Most importantly, looking back, now that the project is complete and we are enjoying the new solar system, I am pleased to say that every planned detail was taken care of and the project was finished on time and exactly within budget. There was lots of interpersonal warmth, clarity on every issue, and a good deal of fun and humor throughout the entire process. In absolutely every regard, the entire operation and experience was nothing shy of first class.

Chickadee Solar was fantastic to work with at every step. They listened to me and were flexible when I wanted to go with different panels. I appreciated that they weren't trying to just sell me system and priced a few designs. Ultimately I chose then over a bigger, well-known firm because if their service. And they delivered on schedule and at the contract price. Since the install the follow-up has been great. Shawn has patiently answered all my questions and they handled everything with CMP (except what I had to sign). I highly recommend Shawn's team at Chickadee Solar.

We reached out to Chickadee to help us with a botched install when the system failed last Fall. While they weren’t able to fix our system due to liability concerns, they did diagnose the problem for us and get us on the track to getting it resolved. Very professional and knowledgeable. Wish we had gone with them from the start.
