Noticed puddles in the hearth after every thunderstorm. The team fixed the crown masonry up top, and the dripping completely stopped.
Their work is excellent, their men are good people, but had I known the high cost per man hour I would have asked for more quotes from other chimney experts.
I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the service I received from Chimcare regarding the cleaning of my pellet stove. I paid $150 for a cleaning performed by a technician who, as it turned out, had no experience working with pellet stoves. As a result, the stove was damaged during the process. When a second technician, David from Boston, came out, he confirmed that Chimcare does not have experience with pellet stoves. He apologized on behalf of the company, called his supervisor from my kitchen, and I was assured at that time that I would be refunded the $150 for the cleaning and reimbursed for the cost of the repairs caused by the first technician’s mistakes. I have since provided the requested documentation — including the repair receipt and photos — to support my reimbursement claim. While I did receive the $150 refund via Venmo, I was later told that Chimcare no longer use Venmo (despite sending me the 1st payment 4days prior) and that I would now need to use Zelle. To make matters worse, I recently received an email stating that Chimcare would not be reimbursing me for the repair costs, despite the prior agreement. Chimcare should not have accepted a pellet stove cleaning appointment if their technicians were not qualified to perform that service. This entire experience has been both frustrating and unprofessional. I will be filing formal complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General’s office. I hope this review will help someone avoid the situation we are now in. I am attaching photos that were provided by another company that I had to hire to repair the damages after Chimcare supposedly cleaned my pellet stove. Note that the exhaust fan is filled with creosote blocking it from exhausting right after Chimcare supposedly cleaned it. Not only did I have to pay for this to be repaired now I have to still find a reputable company to actually clean the stove. UPDATE: Upon seeing this honest review Chimcare finally called me and offered to reimburse me for the damages caused by their technician (and asked me to remove this review) I am disappointed that it took me writing a review for them to finally call me back and reimburse me as originally agreed. I am leaving this review because I do not believe this was a simple misunderstanding, I spoke with MULTIPLE “managers” in the span of 1-2 weeks.
Chimcare in Wellesley fixed the big chunks missing from my chimney edges by adding an expansion gap around the flue liner. They worked through the weekend, and now it looks solid. Good value for the work done.
The old cover on my chimney was letting water in, so they installed a new stainless steel chase cover today. It fits tight and looks solid. Really glad to have that fixed before the next rain. Thanks for getting it done quickly and neat.
