One name shows up in nearly every review of Chipman Family Fence: Wendell. Customers describe the owner turning up to measure, quoting the job himself, and then being on site with the crew — across seven years of written accounts, from a $395 chain-link repair to a $10,500 cedar install. The Marshfield company is BBB accredited with an A+ grade and has been accredited since March 2018. It installs and repairs wood, vinyl and PVC, chain link, aluminium, steel and wrought iron fencing, plus automatic gates, and sells fabricated fence sections for homeowners who want to install themselves. What makes the record readable is that people put numbers to it. In a 2016 review a homeowner priced a wood fence at $1,400 and said the crew came exactly when promised; another the same year described a $9,800 install finished in about four days. A 2017 customer wrote that a chain-link and cedar repair was done within 24 hours of the call for $395. In a 2023 review a homeowner described a six-foot Canadian cedar privacy fence with two gates, quoted onsite and installed six months later, exactly as specified. The one story that says most about how they handle trouble is from January 2022: a customer whose coastal fence had been storm-damaged wrote that a major windstorm hit about a month after installation and disturbed work that had not fully set, and that the crew came back within days, repaired it and shored it up. Two things to weigh. The written record runs 2016 to 2023 and then stops — nothing has been posted in roughly three years, so the current picture is unverified even though the history is deep. And the 5.0 rating shown as 37 reviews appears identically on both Angi and HomeAdvisor; those are mirrors of one review set, not two independent scores. Lead times were sometimes long: one 2023 customer waited six months from bid to install, and a 2017 reviewer noted a slow spring. Set against fabrication, the set holds up: bodies vary from one line to several paragraphs, prices and fence types differ job to job, the owner and crew recur by name across years, and a 4.5 and a 4.7 survive among the fives. A sound call for residential fence work on the South Shore, particularly cedar and vinyl privacy fencing and gates. Ask about the current lead time and get the schedule in writing, since the timing is what varied most in what customers wrote.

Wendell came onsite, prepared the bid, gave me project dates, six months later he and his team installed exactly what I asked for a gorgeous six foot cedar privacy fence, with two large gates for access to my backyard. I cannot say enough about this company. He stands behind his product, he answers all of your questions. His product was thick cedar wood from canada. I would highly recommend him to anyone who wants to put up any type of fence. He is absolutely phenomenal.

Vinyl or PVC Fence Installation. We had a fabulous experience with Wendell and his team. The price was great but his customer service was outstanding . As a woman it can be hard to feel like your taken seriously in situations getting quotes etc , but Wendell was very honest and he took all my requests seriously. His team were very nice and professional . The end result was amazing !! Our 13 year old dog now ventures out into the yard . He hasn't done that in years but since the new fence is in he wanders up to it and lays down. Like he is proud of it . I don't know what else to say, except thank you !!

Wood Fence Installation. I had around 5-6 estimates on the fence that was damaged beyond repair on the front side of the house from the many storms we had on the ocean. Wendell was in the middle of those estimates and came recommended by friends in construction. About a month after they installed the fence we had that major storm with the crazy winds and messed up some of the work they did that hadn't quite set in the ground. They were there is days of it happening and fixed everything like new and shored it up a bit. The fence came out great, the work and work ethic was just as great. Highly recommend Weddell and his crew.
