WARNING - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! As a small business owner in CT, it pains me to write a bad review and speak negatively about a small business, but unfortunately the owner has left me with no other choice. My wife and I found Robert (the owner) on Thumbtack and he quickly communicated back with us to come up with an estimate for a service on a tree in our backyard. Very clearly, we wanted to remove a couple of leads coming from a larger lead extending from the tree trunk. He gave us a quote in October which we agreed on, so we attempted to set up a time to take care of it which was very difficult. Finally, he texts us back to set up an appointment 2.5 months later last minute to come 2 days after. Fine. Him and his helper arrive later than our schduled time. I went out to greet him as he "got everything prepared" and he was all worried about receiving his payment. Stupidly, I agreed to give him a check and instructed to him to let us know when he completed his work. After "completing" the work he didn't contact us, cashed our check, and when we got home from work we realized that all he did was remove a handful of branches from the tree. Once we realized that the work we paid for was not properly completed, we contacted him immediately. We attempted to text, email, and call him with voicemails several times and have yet to receive a response. Very disheartening that a local business owner from your own town cannot do the right thing. Please spare yourself a headache and look into another company. ***EDIT: Response to Owner's Rebuttal 1/19/2026*** The knowledge you instilled in all of us was impressive, but a little too late. Additionally, it would be have been nice to receive this correspondance instead of the highly email you wrote us. To quote the owner, "I’m curious as to what your profession is and I’ll gladly tell you how to do your job" and then threaten to sue for defamation for an accurate and truthful review of my experience. Prior to writing this review, like I stated we attempted to call, text, and email you asking for an explanation, but was met with nothing but animosity. Either way, you still appear to be missing the point here. No one has ever told you how to do your job, only to do what you promised. It would have be excellent to be relayed that information during your initial consultation, on your quote, and prior to undergoing any services. Had this been known, we likely would not have undergone any services, because we did not request a service for the pruning of branches, it was for "removal of the larger upright leads" that is written verbatim in the quote you gave us. On top of that, the price should have been adjusted reflecting the services that were rendered. They never were. Regardless of what could or could not be done, the fundamental issue is that you promised a specific service that you were compensated for, and did a much lesser service, which is not an honest way to conduct business. The scheduling conflicts and your tardiness are just small details in our overall experience, but regardless are accurate from my perspective. As demonstrated in your response, there appears to be an overall lack of care, understanding, and accountability in the wrong-doing by you and your company. It's excellent that you've "never" had a dissatisfied client, but I'd like to point out the fact that this is your 2nd review on Google in your 13+ years of business. If everyone was satisfied with your services, wouldn't there be a few more reviews at the very least? All in all, my original review is truthful. In the end, the truth will ultimately prevail here. Similarly stated, for those of you looking for a tree service, unless you want all of the headache I have gone through here, please do yourself a favor and look into a more professionally run company. Unfortunately, further action is going to have to be taken in order to reconcile this nightmare of a situation.

CT Tree Experts did an absolutely outstanding job. We needed tree work done last minute, and despite their busy schedule, they went out of their way to fit us in — which we truly appreciated. Rob was extremely skilled, professional, clearly very experienced and very knowledgeable. He handled the job with precision and care and the entire crew worked efficiently and safely. Communication was great, the work was done right, and the cleanup was spotless. It’s rare to find a great company this reliable and accommodating. I highly recommend CT Tree Experts to anyone looking for top-quality tree service!!
