CONTINUUM Landscape Architects is a landscape architecture consulting firm based in Watertown, Massachusetts, founded by Michael White, who its listing describes as a licensed landscape architect and LEED AP accredited professional. Its Houzz profile prints license number #1583, and it works across Greater Boston. This is a design practice rather than a crew with trucks. The services it lists are drawing and planning work: landscape and garden design, landscape plans and site planning, hardscape and patio design, pool and water-feature design, outdoor lighting, 3D rendering, drafting and project management, alongside more specialised interests such as green roofs, living walls, edible and organic gardens. Its written record is real but thin and dated. The single account on file is a November 2015 review from the PTA co-presidents of Burbank Elementary School in Belmont, MA, describing a school-garden project begun in January 2015: they wrote that Michael White handled technical considerations and hardscape specifications, estimated materials and installation costs, produced plan and perspective drawings they used to solicit donated labour and materials, and then effectively acted as project manager, advising on materials, quantities and work flow. They also described him directing hardscape installation in April 2015 by a team of Minuteman High School horticulture students, coming daily to mark out areas, and attending PTA meetings and the opening ceremony. That is one detailed, positive account from more than a decade ago, and nothing published since, which is too little to support a rating. Anyone considering the firm should ask for current project references, confirm the landscape architect registration number directly with the Massachusetts board, and be clear about where design work ends and a separate installation contractor begins.

In January 2015 Michael White of Continuum Landscape Architects generously agreed to advise us on a PTA project to create a school garden. Not just a few beds for flowers and vegetables, but a dedicated outdoor space for educational use designed specifically to tie in with the elementary curriculum. Our committee had ideas from teachers and a concept design, but little idea how to get from paper to installation. Michael's expertise was invaluable. He addressed technical considerations and hardscape specifications, and estimated costs for materials and installation. Undeterred by our tiny budget, he provided beautiful plan and perspective drawings that helped us present our project to local landscape companies to solicit contributions of labor or materials. When at last we had the funding and other support to proceed, he essentially served as project manager, advising us frequently on materials, quantities, and work flow. In April 2015 Michael directed the hardscape installation work of a young team of Horticulture & Landscape students from the Minuteman High School, coming daily to mark out areas and make suggestions. His collaborative and encouraging manner throughout made the students feel like the experts! Michael was extraordinarily generous with his time. He attended two evening PTA meetings to present the garden project, and joined us for the Garden Classroom opening ceremony in June 2015 and a couple garden events at the school in the fall. We are extremely grateful for all of Michael's steadfast support, expertise, time, and enthusiasm. We could not have accomplished this ambitious school garden project without him.
