Earth Stone and Water is a Medford landscaping company that, by its own account, brings more than 25 years of combined experience to hardscaping, stone walls, and yard-drainage work. Its Houzz page lists fire pits, hardscaping, general landscaping, and stone walls as its project categories. Only two written reviews exist for the company, both 5 stars, dated 2015 and 2017 — thin, but consistent. In the more detailed one, a homeowner described hiring Chris and Greg for a drainage fix: regrading part of the yard and installing piping and a drywell to move water away from the house. The reviewer singled out Greg for checking in with updates and photos throughout the week-long job and for putting up caution tape around the work area during a family cookout. A shorter 2015 review said the final cost landed close to the original estimate and called the results good enough to hire the company again. Both accounts on file are from 2015 and 2017, so it's worth asking about recent jobs and current pricing before booking. The company holds a Houzz Award and a Houzz Badge, though those are Houzz's own recognitions, not a licensing check. For a Medford-area drainage, stone wall, or hardscaping project, the two reviews on record describe attentive, well-communicated work. Get a current written estimate and ask what they've done lately, since neither review speaks to how the crew is running today.

We had the pleasure of working with Chris and Greg recently and highly recommend them. Our project involved a drainage issue in our backyard that required regrading a section of the yard and installing some piping and a drywell to help move the water away from the area. Chris came out in the winter to take a look at the project and gave us a quote for the proposed work. We got a couple of other quotes but felt that Earth Stone and Water had a solid plan and reasonable price point. They gave us a heads up about a week in advance that we were coming up on the schedule and then Greg, who managed the project, met with me the first day to run through the game plan. I note this because he was flexible enough to meet me early in the morning before work, and also because he took the time to explain what he was thinking and included my feedback. This was a project where 5 people would have 5 different answers and Greg was able to draw on his experience to come up with a great plan by collaborating with me and my description of the issue. Once he had a grasp of the situation, he left to get the equipment he needed for the day and I headed to work. Here is where Earth Stone and Water began to differentiate themselves. Greg contacted me a couple of times that day and the next to update me on the process, sometimes to ask a question or other times just sending a picture or two so I could follow the progress. For those of you who have worked with a landscaper or contractor before, you know how critical communication is and how rare it is to find in the industry. The project lasted about a week and that trend continued throughout, via email, texts, and calls. The site was always left clean at the end of the day and I always felt in the loop on where things stood. Another small thing worth noting was the project crossed over Memorial Day weekend and we were having a BBQ. Greg and his crew knew we have little kids and they put caution tape up all around the area to keep the kids at bay. It is these kind of details that show how Chris and Greg are trying to build a different kind of company and their customer service meant a lot to us. The day they were finishing up I met with Greg and he gave me full instructions on how to cultivate the sod they had laid out and answered all my remaining questions. In conclusion, if you want to work with friendly, experienced professionals who know how to manage a project and communicate with their customers, Earth Stone and Water should be your first call.
prompt, final costs were very close to estimate, did an excellent job on our property, would hire them again in the future
