Eastern Finish paints cabinets. It holds 4.7 stars from 25 Google ratings and an A grade from the BBB. A recent customer who hired the company to refinish kitchen cabinets said the owner, Brett, required 50% down on signing. That customer said four months passed with no word, and four more before Brett showed up to start the project. About three-quarters of the way through, the customer said, an email brought a higher bill, and the cabinet doors and drawer faces would be withheld unless it was paid. The customer said he did lousy work, that they fired him and had him escorted off the property by the police, and that fixing the mess cost a lot of money. After an initial assessment meeting with Brett at their home, a recent customer said follow-up texts, emails and calls went unanswered. A 2025 customer said Brett and Ryan worked on the cabinets in three bathrooms and praised the communication. In a 2025 review of a kitchen update, the customer said Brett and his team covered everything before spraying and left no paint where it didn't belong.
Let me begin by saying Do Not Hire This Man!! Big Time Crook. My wife wanted to have the kitchen cabinets refinished so after doing a little research and a few interviews we settled on Eastern Finish. Please if you ever see this name again run the other way. First off the owner required 50% down on signing which by the way is illegal in Maine, which we did not know at the time. 4 months later still hadn't see or heard from him. I started calling and finally got a woman who told me we were still a ways out for our project to start. 4 more months later the owner of the company Brett shows up and starts the project. Besides being rude, nasty and disrespectful he did lousy work and you could tell he did not want to be doing the job. I would ask him questions and he would get very upset about 3/4's of the way through the job he starts hinting to the wife that prices our going up apparently he thought he had been to long on our job. That weekend we get an email that indeed was a higher bill and if we didn't agree to pay it we wouldn't get our cabinet doors and draw faces. I fired him and had him escorted off my property by the police. It took us a lot of money to fix his mess not to mention what we had already paid him. So please do not hire this company. His day is coming! Not worth 1 star but you can't post with 0 stars
I wish I could review their work, but I was unfortunately ghosted after a great initial assessment meeting with Brett over a month ago. Everything sounded great and I was very excited to move forward, but I have not received a response to any of my follow-up texts, emails, and calls. I give them high marks for initial contact and customer service at my home, but the follow-up has been completely non-existent. I know nothing about their finished product. I will gladly update this review if anything changes
Eastern Finish is the A team for cabinet painting. It was a pleasure working with Brett and Ryan. Beautiful, high quality work on my cabinets in 3 bathrooms, and great communication. I'm so glad I found them!
When we finally decided to update our kitchen we were so fortunate to choose Brett and his team. They transformed our tired, frumpy old looking kitchen into a truly magical place. We love it more than we expected. He and his team are all pleasant to work with. They covered everything before spraying and left not a spot of paint where it didn’t belong. If you are thinking of doing your kitchen you will not find anyone better than the folks at Eastern Finish.
There aren’t enough complimentary words to describe Brett….owner of Eastern Finish and all the wonderful people he hires. I look at this new beautiful kitchen and am grateful to all of them everyday. THE BEST EVER ! Thank you all.! Mary Ellen and Jim
