Verified record
Estrela Landscaping works out of New Bedford, Massachusetts, taking on yard work that ranges from grading and mulch delivery to storm cleanup and winter plowing — but its written record from 2018 and 2019 is a study in extremes: on HomeAdvisor and Angi it holds a 2.7 out of 5 from eight ratings, with as many one-star reviews as five-star ones. The most detailed account, a 2018 review, describes a fallen-pine cleanup that went sideways: Estrela quoted $350 for the job, came out, cut and hauled away roughly half the tree, then never returned to grind the stump or clear the rest of the pile despite repeated texts. A snow-plowing customer reported a similar pattern the following winter — a 2019 review says the business confirmed plowing for the season, then stopped replying to texts and calls. A separate 2019 review of fence and gate work describes uneven posts and a gate installed without the wire needed to open it from the inside. Not every account is negative — a short 2018 review recommends the crew for lawn mowing — but the written history skews toward follow-through problems more than workmanship itself: getting a call back, finishing the last piece of a job, delivering what was quoted. Anyone considering Estrela for landscaping, grading, or snow removal should get the scope and timeline in writing before work starts, and confirm who is handling final cleanup and follow-up calls — the recurring theme in its reviews is jobs left unfinished and communication that trails off, not the quality of the work when it is completed.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Estrela Landscaping. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.

Called me to confirm plowing for this year & then never replied to any other texts or calls.
The gender post were uneven, no wire was installed to open the gate from the inside.

Home Advisor called ME and said THEY would have someone call me to remove an uprooted pine tree. The root ball was at ground level. The tree was blown over during our March storms. Estrela texted on 3/30 to say he wanted to come by and see it. He quoted me $350.00. Came on 3/31 and cut off limbs and trunk. I paid him an additional $50.00 to have him trim some branches from a neighbor's tree hanging into my yard - which he never even did. After paying him a total of $400.00 he has hauled away about 1/2 of it and said he wanted to get to the dump before it closed. He said he'd return to get the big pile still left. After not hearing from him, I texted him on 4/5 to find out when he was coming back and if he was taking the root (which was torn up). His answer was "I don't do stumps. I will be there Saturday". Here it is 4/29 and the pile is still in my yard. I should also mention that I am a widowed, disabled 64 year old and have only been able to see the tree and pile from my bedroom window. I've relied heavily on HomeAdvisor in the past with no problems but I will NEVER let them pick someone for me again! I feel like I was taken to the cleaners twice - Home Advisor and Estrela Landscaping. I paid him in full and here it is, 5/7 and he still hasn't shown up.
