Fisher & Rocha has been building and remodeling homes around Mattapoisett since 1965, when carpenter Bruce Rocha Sr. and financier Henry Fisher started the company; Fisher retired in 1975 and the Rocha family has run it since, with Bruce Rocha Jr. now overseeing construction as president. The company's own description covers custom home building, remodeling, repairs and restoration, generator installation and commercial work, serving Mattapoisett, Fairhaven, Rochester, Wareham, Marion and the surrounding South Coast towns, and it holds an active, state-verified Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration. There isn't much of an online review trail — just three reviews total — but permit records tell a fuller story: BuildZoom counts 60 permitted projects on file, 14 of them in the past three years, mostly siding, trim, window and door work with a typical permit value around $20,000, and scores the company in the top 3% of Massachusetts licensed contractors by that measure. A 2025 review called the work "incredible" and said Bruce was "a pleasure to work with," and a shorter 2021 review was similarly positive. The other side of that thin review record is more serious — a 2025 review describes hiring Bruce for a perc test on family land, being told a "soil specialist" (described as a friend, paid in cash) needed to be brought in, then being told the land wouldn't pass and offered a plot Bruce owned himself instead. It's a single account, but a specific and pointed one, worth asking about directly. Elsewhere, a 2010 newspaper article described the crew removing a church's back doors to install a pair of bells known locally as "The Twins," and Bruce Rocha has been quoted describing the history behind the church's bells during related renovation work; the company was also named in 2023 as a partner in a state workforce-training grant alongside several other local businesses. Long-established and well-documented through permits, with a right-sized recent track record — but the land-purchase allegation above is specific enough to raise directly before signing anything.
