Fontaine's Pool Services describes itself on its website as a swimming pool contractor located in Plainfield, CT, offering above ground pool services. A recent Google reviewer says the stainless steel wall panel on their new pool was installed facing the road, and that Kevin agreed to take the pool down and reinstall it, at the cost of another installation. The same reviewer says Kevin cracked a plastic piece on their brand-new filter while tightening it, put in a makeshift PVC attachment, said he would contact the manufacturer, and that they never heard from him again. That customer also says the holes for the pool uprights were drilled too large, leaving screws loose. A 2025 customer who hooked up their own pump called them professional and fun to have at the house. In a separate 2025 review, a customer called Kevin knowledgeable, efficient and true to his word.
I intentionally waited before writing this review because I wanted to give Fontaine Pools the opportunity to make things right. Unfortunately, despite waiting and reaching out, we never received a resolution. During the initial pool installation, we trusted that the installers were professionals and knew what they were doing, so we were not outside monitoring every step. The installation crew consisted of Kevin and teens. While I understand family businesses often involve family members, I still expected the same level of professionalism, attention to detail, and workmanship that any customer should receive. After the installation was complete, we noticed that the stainless steel wall panel on our pool had been installed facing the road- complete eye sore. This panel stands out from the rest of the pool, and I would have expected an experienced pool company to ask where we wanted it placed. Kevin did ask where I wanted the skimmer, and I requested it be on the side facing the woods, however it was facing the front yard. While Kevin later pointed out that the stainless steel panel was mentioned in the product description, I had never owned a pool with one before. I believe a professional installer should have discussed this before installation. After expressing how unhappy we were with the placement, Kevin agreed to take down the pool and reinstall it, using an Intex pool to temporarily hold the water paying an another installation cost, which was extremely frustrating. We wanted the pool installed to our preference as we take pride in the way things look on our property. When Kevin returned to hook up the skimmer, he cracked a plastic piece on our brand-new filter while tightening it. He told us he would go to the pool store to try to find the correct replacement. When he couldn’t find one, he said he would contact the manufacturer in the meantime he put a makeshift PVC attachment. After hearing nothing since June we reached out and were told he was still waiting for a “call back.” That was the last update we received, and we never heard from him again. The plastic skimmer component also has a crack that was never addressed. Additionally, none of the pool uprights had been drilled appropriately with screws, they made too large of holes- leaving screws loose and hanging out with several black caps missing altogether. We contacted the pool company via email and they called us the very next day, this verifies that he never reached out to the company although he stated he was waiting for a response which it’s been months of nothing and multiple excuses when we reach out. The company stated that they have never had this happen despite Kevin saying this is a “manufacturer defect”. They verified that the holes were indeed drilled too large for the screws after seeing photos. Additionally, one phone call to the company and every replacement part was sent to us via email immediately. Overall, this experience was disappointing. The lack of communication, failure to follow through on promised repairs, and incomplete workmanship left us feeling that customer service ended once the installation was complete. I had hoped Fontaine Pools would take responsibility and correct these issues as this was a brand new pool. Unfortunately, after giving him ample time to respond and make things right, I feel it’s important to share my experience so others know what to expect. If you have any pride in your property and expect things to be done correctly do yourself a favor and find an alternative.
They did a perfect job. I wound up hooking up my own pump because I am mechanical. They are very professional and fun to have at my house. I would recommend them to anybody. They are the best I’ve seen so thank you to Fontaine pools for a terrific job done by professionals.
We met with Kevin on Saturday. He is supposed to install our pool the first week of July. Hopefully we have a great follow up review for installation. He seems to be a really genuine guy. I will keep all posted.
I can't say enough good things about Kevin. He's knowledgeable, efficient and true to his word.
