Most of the people reviewing G & E Steel are not homeowners. They are builders. A construction company owner writing in November 2024 called it one of the best firms he had ever done business with; another in April 2023 described a complex residential fabrication and install that landed on time and on budget. When a shop's customers are other trades, what gets judged is narrow and unforgiving: does the steel fit, and does it arrive on the day. The Salem shop fabricates and installs stainless steel railings, staircases, balconies and miscellaneous metals for houses and commercial jobs. It says it was founded by Antonio Ciasullo, an Italian-American master artisan with more than 30 years in the trade, and is now run by his sons — Emilio as president and senior project manager, Gino as treasurer and COO — with over 50 years in the industry behind the family name. Houzz lists railing installation, stair installation and railing repair across 34 Greater Boston and North Shore towns. Gino's name recurs. A January 2025 reviewer said he turns estimates around quickly and the work follows through; a January 2024 customer had used him across multiple projects. A December 2023 customer, a Middleton business owner who signed his review, said pricing was competitive, the workmanship was on the mark and the material was delivered when promised — the three things a builder actually keeps score on. Smaller residential work shows up too: an April 2025 customer had a ramp fabricated to solve a three-inch step into a garage. The run is clean — a 5.0 average across 20 Google ratings, and fourteen written accounts, none critical. It is also a modest sample, and the newest written review dates to September 2025. If you need railings, a stair or balcony steel, this is a shop other contractors keep going back to. Ask for a reference from a job finished in the past few months rather than leaning on the streak, and pin down fabrication lead time in writing — that is the part of metalwork that slips.
