Garage Doors Plus is Chris Riggs running a one-man garage door business out of Quincy, and the calls that define it are the urgent ones — a door that won't open, a spring that just snapped, an opener quitting overnight. The company says it's been at this 16 years, and reviewers keep landing on the same detail: how fast Chris shows up. In April, one customer said he called back within minutes on a weekend and was on-site fixing a serious malfunction a couple of hours later; another the same month said he'd installed their door years earlier and was back the same day to fix a broken part. Google puts Garage Doors Plus at 4.6 stars across 229 ratings, and the reviews since the start of the year keep repeating the same shape — a call, a same-day or next-day visit, a fair quote, the job closed out. That pattern holds across well over a hundred reviews going back to 2021, spread across several sites, which is a deep enough run to back up the idea that most jobs here — spring replacements, opener repairs, motor swaps — get handled well. The one recent review worth reading twice: in January, a customer said they paid a deposit for a new door, then couldn't reach anyone for weeks after the scheduled delivery date passed, eventually hired someone else, and were still waiting on their money back months later. It's a different kind of job — a full door order rather than a repair call — and it lines up with a separate mark on the company's BBB profile, which grades it B- specifically over a failure to respond to a complaint filed there. For a stuck door, a snapped spring, or an opener on its way out, the history here is strong, and the Massachusetts home improvement contractor license behind the business (HIC 219709) is active. If you're ordering a new door outright rather than calling for a repair, get the delivery date and deposit terms in writing before paying anything, given what one recent customer says happened to them.
