Garland Building Company runs commercial construction management out of Boston's Financial District, not household remodeling — its own materials and independent directories consistently describe it as a corporate-interiors specialist working for office tenants and commercial clients across the Greater Boston area rather than homeowners. Craig Garland founded the firm and still runs it as President; the company's site puts the start in 2007 and counts 19 years in business, while BBB's file dates it to 2009 (17 years) — a small but real gap on exactly how long it's been operating. Either way, there's over a decade and a half of history here, though almost none of it is backed by visible customer reviews: Google shows a 4.3-star average, but that rests on only 12 ratings, and the one written review anyone can actually read is sharply negative — nowhere near enough to call a pattern, but worth knowing the sole account on file isn't a good one. Boston's own permitting records add a harder number: of 573 rated permits among the 668 the company has filed in the city since 2010, only 19% have closed, leaving 462 still open, roughly 30 points below the citywide median. That's a checkable fact, not an opinion, and it's worth asking directly how a specific project's permits get closed out and on what timeline. Garland isn't BBB-accredited and hasn't been rated by BBB, which by itself says little since accreditation is optional. But between the thin review count, the one negative account on record, and the slow permit closures, there's less independent corroboration behind the company's polished self-description than it first appears. This reads like a fit for an office or commercial client who needs a Financial-District construction manager for an interiors build-out and is prepared to check project references directly — there isn't enough of an online review trail yet to do that vetting instead.

Steve Garland Building company built and installed a standing seam metal roof on my barn in Eliot Maine. Steve was paid for a very expensive snow guard that is needed for safety reasons. Although he told me he would take care of it, he now ignores my messages, 2 years later we still do not have the snow guard that we payed for. Steve Garlamd is not a business man, and is not trustworthy.
