GCS Outdoors is the Guimaraes brothers' operation — Frank on estimates and construction, Fred on quality control — begun, the company says, in 2011 when the two turned a landscape-design hobby into a business. It runs from Newbury on the Newburyport Turnpike with a second location in Hampton Falls, NH, and covers northern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire with landscaping, stone work, irrigation, pool builds and snow management for homes, condo communities and commercial properties. The work that earns the loudest praise is the hard stuff. A 2024 reviewer described an asphalt-and-paver driveway with a matching patio, built in the rain under a tent; a 2022 customer showed off a custom retaining wall with built-in lighting and landscaping to match. This May a homeowner called the team professional, punctual and detail-oriented after a full yard transformation, and in January a property manager credited the crew with clearing the Hampton Meadows community safely through a severe winter storm. The caution flag is what happens after the crew leaves. In June 2026 a customer reported a roughly $30,000 patio that began sinking after three years — told the repair was covered under warranty, then months of unreturned calls despite an in-person visit to the office. A 2023 reviewer told a similar story: extensive work failing year over year and two years of warranty calls that went unanswered. A December 2025 review from an apartment complex also complained of snow clearing with leaf blowers at 4:45 on a Saturday morning. Google still has them at 4.4★ across 28 ratings, and the install-day experience — punctual crews, tidy sites, strong stonework — reads consistently well from 2022 through this spring. If you hire GCS for a patio, wall or driveway, get the warranty terms in writing and settle up front who answers the phone if something settles later.
We spent over $30,000 with this company to install a new patio approximately three years ago. By the end of last year, the patio had begun sinking, and after contacting the company, we were told the issue would be covered under warranty and that someone would come out in the spring to inspect and repair it. Since then, we have made numerous attempts to contact the company with no response. My husband even visited their office in person and spoke with employees as well as the owner’s wife. We were assured that Frank would contact us, but that was in April and we are still waiting for a return call. A $30,000 investment is a significant expense for any homeowner. The fact that the patio is already sinking raises concerns about the quality of the work, and our experience has been that the company has not honored its warranty commitments. Based on our experience, I would urge potential customers to carefully consider this before hiring them.
GCS delivered outstanding snow removal services for the Hampton Meadows community during a recent severe winter storm. Their team was highly professional, responsive, and detail-oriented from start to finish. Roads, walkways, and common areas were cleared efficiently and safely, even in challenging conditions. The consistency, reliability, and expertise of the GCS team truly stood out and reflect a strong commitment to quality service. An extraordinary team and a well-run company. I highly recommend GCS to any community seeking dependable, high-quality snow removal services. — Dawn Tardif, Former Board Member Hampton Meadows Community Association
This company showed up at my community living apartment complex at 445 am on a Saturday morning and started leaf blowing snow with less than 1 inch of fluffy snow on the ground. We all know how loud leaf blowers are, imagine being woken up by one at 445 in the morning on a Saturday in December. It was more than obnoxious. Children are sleeping along with elders. I’m all for saving time and effort especially when it’s back breaking work but I would wait until at least 8 am if I was going to leaf blow snow in the winter. There was no real need to snow plow at all, there was not enough snow on the ground to justify it.
Living in a condo has its advantages. One of them is you never have to worry about landscaping and snow removal. This company is one of the best ones out there. Always ready to assist with anything and everything that is needed. Staff is very professional and goes out of their way to satisfy their customers needs and make experience enjoyable. I cannot recommend them enough. Thank you !
