Greater Metropolitan Real Estate — GMRE — is a North End agency at 433 Hanover Street. Its Better Business Bureau file puts the business at 32 years old, started in 1994 and incorporated in Massachusetts in 2001, with five employees and Domenic Ventresca and Ryan Foley named as the brokers. Massachusetts registry records show an active real estate broker licence, 7447-RE-C, held by Greater Metropolitan Real Estate Inc. The firm runs North End, South Boston, Winchester and Medford offices, and by its own account built itself on apartment rentals before moving into condominium and multi-family investment sales, opening the South Boston office in 2018. That sales side is visible in Boston property coverage: between 2022 and 2024, deal posts circulated on Reddit's r/tradedboston naming GMRE agents on a $1.12M Somerville two-family, a $1.915M multifamily on East Broadway, and a $2.06M South Boston sale on H Street. The written customer feedback, though, is thin and comes from renters — six Google ratings averaging 4.3, three of them carrying text. In a 2024 review a recent graduate described finding a first North End apartment through Ron Ventresca, staying four years, and getting steady communication about lease renewals and maintenance throughout. A 2021 first-time renter said Ron talked him through the whole process with plenty of tips. Against those, a 2023 reviewer wrote only that they had a really bad experience renting through the firm and would avoid its listings, giving no detail about what went wrong. Further back, a redditor in 2012 reported being charged a $300 credit-check fee on a North End apartment and believed that was far above the going rate. For a North End or South Boston rental this is a long-established local shop with an active broker licence and two detailed accounts of patient hand-holding for first-time renters. Before signing, ask for every fee due at lease signing in writing, including what any application or credit-check charge actually covers. If you are buying or selling a small multifamily, ask which of the named brokers will handle the deal and for their recent closings in your neighbourhood.

“The Realtor is Greater Metropolitan Real Estate. They are charging a 300 fee because they think they can get away with it but I know that credit check fees never exceed $30.”
I had a fantastic experience with Greater Metro, specifically Ron Ventresca. I utilized them to find my first apartment in the North End after graduating from college, and they were so helpful in answering all of our small questions and being flexible to switch gears as we navigated what would work best for us. I stayed in the apartment for 4 years and they were very communicative throughout that time regarding lease renewals, maintenance, etc. Would definitely recommend!
Had a really bad experience renting through them. Will avoid their listings in the future.
Ron was great! As a first time renter he talked me through the whole process and had lots of helpful tips! Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a realtor!
