A 65-foot-long, 5-foot-tall stone retaining wall with granite monoliths for the base, posts and stairways: that is how a recent customer at a 200-year-old property in Hampton Falls, NH began describing what owner Mark A. and a team of Mick, Travis, Pete and Graham built for them. The same job added a 1,000 square foot reclaimed brick patio, walkway and landing, cobblestone banding along a crushed stone driveway, and two bluestone pathways through new plantings. Green Monster Landscapes describes itself on its website as a design-build company doing custom paver design, stone masonry, retaining walls, landscape plantings and lighting, and it lists a service area that includes Portsmouth, Dover, Durham, Rye and Hampton. On a lake property, a recent customer said Mark and his crew built a stone wall, then completed a lakeside project with sod, blueberry bushes, erosion control mulch and a stone pathway from the patio to a granite stairway. A recent customer whose patio entry had become a tripping hazard said GML rebuilt the entryway and that Mark came out to assess it within days. A recent customer with rock steps down to a dock said the project had to be NHDES and locally permitted with NH native plants, and that the month-long job finished on time and on budget, with the team on site weekdays 8:30 to 4:30 and a clean job site every night. That customer also said the work was not inexpensive. A 2026 customer said the company installed a granite and limestone patio and that the project was priced appropriately for the quality of the work. A 2025 customer said Mark turned over the existing soil, added a second layer of dirt and hydroseeded the front lawns, scheduling around the customer's travel dates. A 2024 customer said the team designed a drainage system for pooling water and that after several rainstorms the water no longer pooled. A 2023 customer described a full granite outdoor kitchen and bar, seat wall, custom fire pit, paver patio and a lower flagstone patio. A 2024 customer called the owner rude and arrogant. The company holds a 4.7-star Google rating from 25 ratings and an A+ grade from the Better Business Bureau.
“The Green Monster Landscapes team installed the material in multiple ways, using traditional polymeric sand for the patio joints but hand placing river rocks in between the walkway pieces (below).”
“As Green Monster Landscapes renovated the wall and fireplace, we at Stimuli Sight & Sound were brought in to add a technology piece.”
There aren’t enough superlatives to describe the workmanship of Green Monster Landscapes following its recent transformation of our 200-year-old property in Hampton Falls, NH. The quality and creativity of its hardscape work, performed by owner Mark A. and the talented team of Mick, Travis, Pete, and Graham, was nothing less than exceptional and extraordinary from beginning to end. We watched in awe as they meticulously constructed a 65 foot long and 5-foot-tall stone retaining wall with granite monoliths for the base, posts, bookends, and stairways; a 1,000 square foot reclaimed brick patio, walkway, and landing; 300 linear feet of double cobblestone banding along both sides of a crushed stone driveway; and a 200 square foot cobblestone apron. The ingenuity of this crew also showed in its design and installation of two large format bluestone pathways that weave their way through colorful collections of annuals and perennials, ground cover, shrubs, and flowering trees, each one thoughtfully purchased, placed, and planted. With Green Monster Landscapes, you not only get experience, competence, and excellence, you also get originality, flexibility, and integrity. We’re happy to say that we got all of that … and a lot more. Billy W September 2026
We recently hired Green Monster Landscapes in New Hampshire, to build a stone wall at lake property. From start to finish of working with Mark and his crew we were highly impressed with every step in the process. The skillset was incredible. The communication with Mark, his office team and the crew went beyond our expectations. The wall design and stone suggested is perfect for our property and looks beautiful. This project was the first phase in our landscaping plan and we look forward to working with them in the year ahead. We highly recommend Green Monster Landscapes, they care about their clients and take pride in their work. We are very happy with the completion of our lakeside landscaping project this spring. The sod installation along with blueberry bushes, erosion control mulch and stone pathway from our patio to granite stairway look beautiful. Thank you again!
The patio entry to my house was in serious disrepair and had become a tripping hazard . GML rebuilt the entryway and it is perfect. Mark and Meagan were my initial contacts and both were very professional. Mark was out to assess the situation within days. The team members who did the work were also very professional. They needed to make some adjustments to the original plan, and were able to do so without any delays. The whole team was exceptional! Great experience.
Absolutely spectacular! The hardscape is pure artistry. Each rock, each paver, each stone is selected carefully for a particular spot in an intricate design. Each rock step flows smoothly down to my dock. Gorgeous and functional. Mark listened closely to what I needed: The project had to be NHDES and locally permitted. Materials and structure had to be lake-friendly. Plants had to be NH natives. The workmanship is impeccable. The team was courteous and thoughtful of neighbors, and my neighbors loved them! (My beloved "nosy" neighbors visited often and were warmly accommodated.) Mark runs a tight ship. Green Monster achieved a number of key indicators of professionalism on my checklist: 1) The month-long project, despite numerous challenges, was finished on-time and on-budget. 2) The team worked on site M-F 8:30-4:30. No weekend or evening work to disturb the neighbors. 3) The team left a clean job site every night. 4) Once they started the job, they stayed until completed -- no back-and-forth between jobs. 5) The crew seemed as enthusiastic as I was about the project. This level of professionalism is not inexpensive but is worth every penny. Signed, An Ecstatic Customer
