Highgarden Landscape is a Boxborough, MA landscaping business. On HomeAdvisor it describes itself as a full service landscape provider specializing in hardscapes, stonewalls and landscape design and maintenance, locally owned and operated. In a 2016 review, a customer who had hired Highgarden for a few landscaping jobs over the prior year said Russ was very quick to respond and to provide quotes, and that he and his crew paid attention to detail. In a 2014 review, a customer said Russ asked for a deposit to buy the granite, started the job on time, did the job himself and kept the site clean every day. In 2011, a customer wrote that Trawick knew how to cover their pool apron with pavers and rework the coping after other companies declined the job. A 2010 review described restoring a 150 year old retaining wall and then building a natural stone waterfall, with all of the Traywick brothers taking part and managing the job closely. Another 2010 review described three retaining walls, one new and two demoed and replaced, on a site with major access problems, where they hand carried everything in and out, up and down the stairs. In a 2010 review, a customer described a 15' x 20' patio in Unilock Holland pavers and a 20' x 20' rubber mulch play area, and said the company offered a 5 year warranty on the patio work. A 2009 review said The Traywick Companies paved a driveway, followed specification precisely, and also resurfaced the lawn and planted seed. In a 2011 review, a customer said Traywick built the very first stair incorrectly, leaving the first step noticeably higher and the existing railings no longer fitting properly, and that multiple complaints got no response. A 2011 review of a drive and walkway paver job said the grout install was bad and the pavers began heaving and loosening right away; it took more than 6 months of negotiation to get them back to reinstall, with a final result the customer called adequate. In 2010, a customer wrote that the seeding and fertilizing on their job were still not done after 36 days of waiting. A 2013 review said minor repairs under the 5-year warranty had gone two years without a reply. In a 2009 review, a customer said the walls looked absolutely beautiful but their credit card was over charged, and it took two weeks and 31 calls to get it corrected.

“The program for this home perched on the side of a mountain focused on maintaining and accentuating its panoramic views, creating an interactive landscape for gardening and outdoor hobbies, and maintaining accessibility to site features that allow for inclusivity for their entire family.”
We have hired Highgarden for a few landscaping jobs over the last year and have been happy with the results. Unlike other landscaping companies, which are often difficult to reach, Russ is very quick to respond and to provide quotes. He is knowledgeable and always takes his time when meeting to discuss a project, to understand exactly what we are looking for and to provide advice when requested. When doing the work, he and his crew pay attention to detail. Russ personally ensures the finished product is up to his high standards. We are grateful to have found a landscaper who we know is reliable and who we will look to first for future jobs.
We started out contacting one of the contractors with a high number of good reviews but we did not get any response. We have previously received a card in the mail from Highgarden but found no reviews on Angie?s List. Since they are local we decided to call them. They returned my call almost immediately and we scheduled a meeting the following week.
Russ was very present to deal with and promptly responded with a quote and job description after the meeting. He did not try pushing unnecessary work. After a second meeting to clarify some of the items we agreed to have Highgarden do the work. He asked for a deposit to buy the granite which I thought was reasonable.
Russ started the job on time even though we've told him we are not in a rush. The materials that he used were top notch. His work was excellent and he delivered everything we agreed to plus more. He did the job himself and he kept the site clean every day. He responded to our only ?dislike? promptly and took action to ?fix? the issue. He completed the job on time.
I will recommend Highgarden to anyone looking to have high quality landscaping work done. Do not be misled by the lack of reviews. Russ is a straight shooter and Highgarden was excellent with communicating with their customers.
Quality work, on time and on budget.
Needed some minor repairs on their 5-year warranty. Been two years. Have yet to hear back form them!
Pros... friendly and accommodating (until work was complete), good quality granite Cons... Traywick does not kow how to install stairs properly and built the very first stair incorrectly, which ruins the entire stair run. Experienced stair builders should know first stair should be built one tread low, since the entire rise is exposed and not partially covered by a lower tread. Traywick did not do this and essentially messed up the entire stairs. Existing railings no longer fit properly, first step is noticeably higher and uneven from rest. MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS, NO RESPONSE. Finally gave up and living with uncomfortable entrance stairsShow
