In a June 2025 review, a customer pouring 21 sonotubes in their back yard for a shed and deck wrote that Al quickly fit the small job in and rescheduled when heavy rain came. Eric, who ran the truck, "took great care getting his truck up to our back yard" and then helped the customer bucket-fill every sonotube. Hughes Bros., based in Hampden, Maine, describes itself on its website as a source for commercial, municipal and residential earthwork, underground utility construction and construction material supply. In May 2026 a Google reviewer wrote that they were very happy with their new driveway, adding that "Holden was great to work with" and called the pricing reasonable. Another May 2026 reviewer has ordered cement, gravel, topsoil and more over many years and wrote that the staff "act like regular people and not fake 'corporate polite'." An August 2024 reviewer named quick delivery and the concrete itself. In July 2026 a one-star reviewer wrote that they watched one of the company's concrete mixers discharge concrete as its driver went up the on-ramp of 395; when they called the plant, the dispatcher said it wasn't his truck and hung up. In a May 2024 review, a driver with a car full of kids wrote that people driving the company's little trucks pulled out in front of them and then pulled over with no blinker, forcing them to brake hard twice. In a June 2022 review, a customer who ordered 28 yards of loam wrote that it had big rocks and pieces of 2x4 in it, and that the office told them "we stand by our products." A July 2023 reviewer who worked with the company described unreasonable deadlines and last-minute decisions, and wrote that a deadline was changed halfway through the build along with a statement that it would not pay if the work was not completed. Its BBB page carries an A+ grade, and on Google it holds 4.3 stars from 39 ratings.
