Sam Hughes is the electrician people find after calling everyone else. An October 2024 customer wrote that Hughes was one of only two out of roughly 20 electricians who called back; a December 2024 Thumbtack reviewer said Sam rang and was at the house about half an hour later. Hughes Electric works out of Manchester, and its New Hampshire electrician licence is active. Older houses are where the work gets interesting. A July 2026 customer had ethernet runs pulled to several floors of an antique house and described clean, creative routes; a January 2026 rehab had most of the house rewired, with the wiring conduit custom painted from silver to black; another January 2026 customer had a 1950s home's low-voltage lighting upgraded and the job finished inside the projected time. In February 2026 Sam turned up with the parts prefabricated, pushed through unforeseen issues and worked into the night to get power to the heating system. The everyday list is here too. A December 2024 customer had a generator handled end to end — equipment sourced, the setup explained, the testing arranged — and a May 2024 customer had a solar array designed and installed for a cabin by their pond. Money talk is concrete. Two customers who collected three bids said Hughes came in best; bills arrive itemized; a July 2026 customer was given options at a couple of price points rather than a single number. Customers also describe things he caught. A January 2025 customer said he found a couple of dangerous wiring issues the previous owners had left, and a July 2024 homeowner discovered their master bathroom had been vented into the attic, which he vented properly to the outside. The small courtesies come up repeatedly: a May 2025 customer had him arrive through a snowstorm and put the attic insulation back down afterwards, and a February 2025 customer mentioned him shoveling snow to reach the crawl space. A strong call for older-home wiring, generator and lighting work, and for commercial jobs too — the company's site lists commercial and industrial work, and a 2024 reviewer brought him into the nursing home where they work. The site says the company is licensed in New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts, so confirm the licence that covers your state, and ask for the itemized estimate his customers describe.
