ICOR Building & Remodeling's own website leads with decking, alongside outdoor living, windows and doors, interior renovation and structural and moisture control work. The company says it has been in business 20 years, offers free estimates, and lists Groton, New London, Norwich, Ledyard and East Lyme among the towns it serves. It holds 5 stars from 68 Google ratings. Its Connecticut home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0657218, is active on the state registry under ICOR BUILDING & REMODELING LLC. The chair of a church rebuild committee wrote recently that Mike fixed two floors of flood damage, from hand chiseling up the old flooring to installing new, cutting the trim, priming, painting and helping put in the church's stained glass window. One recent customer said the ICOR crew worked through snowstorms over many weeks to repair a foundation and replace a 1980s-era deck that was funneling water into it; that customer said the initial quote was much lower than competitors' and turned out to be spot on. A 2024 customer said Kenny came right out after a call about a composite deck around a newly installed in-ground pool, and that the team also installed the pool coping and a glass fence. A 2023 customer said ICOR removed a load-bearing wall between a living room and family room, a job that required rerouting heat, water, drainage and electrical and installing a 16-foot steel beam recessed into the ceiling. A 2023 customer said Josh and Mike did the tile on a kitchen remodel and made small custom adjustments to the faucet for a new farmhouse sink. A 2023 bathroom-remodel customer said the job finished sooner than estimated and that the workers fully cleaned up every day before leaving. A 2023 customer who had two complete bathroom remodels done named Kenny as ICOR's owner and said he was there every step of the way. A 2022 customer said ICOR replaced a three-panel slider and four double casement windows after manufacturing, Covid and weather delays, covering the house in drop cloths and vacuuming at the end of each day.
Our church, PBBC suffered a catastrophic flood and Mike was there to fix 2 floors worth of damage. From hand chiseling up old flooring,, installing new and making every single cut of trim he was there. He primed, painted and most of all helped put our stained glass window in. He didnt just show up, he worked all day, everyday, when waiting for paint to dry he helped us move boxes, whatever we needed. He cares about what he does and does with a smile and heart. If you are lucky enough to get Mike for your project, he will make ICOR proud, and you happy. My thanks, Sue S. Chair, rebuild committee. This is Mike.
We had the ICOR crew around for many weeks this winter while they dodged snowstorms and icy weather to repair our foundation and replace the 1980’s-era deck that was funneling water into it (the foundation). They were all great to have on site, and I would have any or all of them back at any time. Kenny was super patient through the design process, and steered our choices in great directions, while also accommodating our must-haves. The initial quote was much lower than the competitors, and turned out to be spot on even with several decisions made as we went - Kenny was always on top of balancing the upgrades with trade-offs if needed. At one point we needed to make a pretty big change to the location of the privacy wall, and the crew just dug in and made it happen (still sorry, guys!). There were technical elements to the repairs and moisture management, and Kenny and Steve showed their professionalism in the explanations and guidance offered. The crew was similarly utterly fantastic about going back into the (formerly gross) crawl space to do all the needed work. The worst corner of the house is now immaculate. All of this without saying the most important thing. Our new deck is GORGEOUS. It is absolutely nothing like what I would have chosen without the ICOR team’s expertise but 4 months in, I love every single element. The detail and craftsmanship is beautiful. I love it night and day, thanks to the beautiful deck surface, railings, and even the gates (pool code!), and especially the LIGHTS. Seriously, thank you!!
Highly recommend. Get lots of compliments on my deck. Friendly crew, knowledgeable and easy to work with.
We were looking for help with correcting a warping deck structure, and have been incredibly fortunate to work with Kenny and his team at ICOR. Kenny and his team are true professionals and decking experts! They have been genuine partners with us in figuring out our decking, offering ideas and sound advice, and never push for "a sale". They always show up, follow up, clean up, and are just nice people. Don't go anywhere else. If you need deck help you will be in excellent hands!
Very easy to work with.
