Pool opening and closing bring customers to Imperial Pools & Spas by LaFrance in Lanesborough, alongside pool supplies and maintenance. The company describes itself as locally owned and operated, says it has been in business for 62 years, and advertises free estimates. Google lists a 4.4-star average from 68 ratings. An April 2026 Google reviewer praises knowledgeable, attentive staff and prompt, punctual service for pool and hot-tub needs. In a July 2023 review, another customer described meticulous pool and spa care, felt the quality justified the price, and credited the company with helping them through several problems. A July 2022 reviewer praised the supply shop's staff and information, including free water testing. Two customers writing in 2025 described problems with seasonal service. In July, a longtime customer said an opening requested for May 15 did not happen until the end of June, despite repeated promises of an imminent visit. A January 2025 reviewer described using Imperial for openings and closings in 2021, 2022 and 2023, with poor communication about arrival times. That customer also said a requested coping repair was passed over during three service visits. According to the review, Keith LaFrance then inspected the coping and acknowledged that his crew's installation looked incorrect. The customer said the eventual repair was poorly done and disputed its invoice; the review also says LaFrance later denied the conversation and responsibility for the original work. These are the customer's allegations about that repair and billing dispute.
The quality products speak for themselves, but the staff are extremely personable and knowledgeable and attentive. They always provide very prompt and punctual service. I highly recommend them for any pool or hot tub needs
Terrible experience. After being a customer for many years, they kept delaying the opening of our pool. They continued to promise that they would be there in a few days—not the truth—but they never showed up. After asking them to open our pool on May 15, they didn’t show up until the END OF JUNE! We will find a more reliable company and suggest u do too!!
*** DO NOT TRUST *** The lack of integrity shown by the owner has been wildly disappointing. We have used Imperial Pools & Spas to open and close our pool in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Besides calling into the nice ladies in the office, the communication is terrible. We never knew when they would be coming. We asked that they let us know when they got here because we had questions. They never did. I asked them to repair the coping around the pool, they did not 3 different times they serviced the pool. After calling repeatedly, the owner of the company (Keith LaFrance) visited our pool to take a look. He said that he and his crew had been the ones to install the coping and that it looked like it was not done right. I agreed to have them fix it during their next service visit. Two guys came out, chain smoked and did a shotty job at repairing it. I then got invoiced for the repair. I paid the opening/closing costs for the pool and wrote a letter stating that I was not going to pay for the coping repair because, admittedly so, they had not installed it properly. Mr. LaFrance wrote back, denying that he and I even had that conversation, and told me that I couldn't hold them accountable for someone else's work. I don't know if he is misremembering or if he is gaslighting me ... either way, NEVER AGAIN.
Imperial Pools is simply the best--they are true professionals, and will take care of your pool (or spa) meticulously. They are not expensive for the quality you get. Trust us--we tried 'the pool guy' and he cost us money and was unreliable. Don't make our mistake--start at the top and stick with Imperial Pools. They helped us out of several jams, and we are forever their grateful customers (even if we're in VA now).
