Jean Brooks Landscapes is a design-build-and-maintain outfit working out of Chelsea, the kind of shop people call when a yard needs more than mowing — a full redesign, a new patio, a garden that holds up season to season. The company says it has over 35 years of design, build, and maintenance work across the Greater Boston area, work it credits to founder Jean Brooks personally, whose design has drawn recognition from the New England Flower Show and the Massachusetts Horticultural Society. Twenty-three ratings on Google and Houzz put the average right at 5.0 and 4.9, and the same story shows up review after review: people hire Jean Brooks for a plan, not just planting, then keep them on to build it. A review this June described handing over a small, awkwardly shaped yard and getting a design built around specific plant requests — professional throughout, the customer wrote, and worth the cost even though it wasn't the cheapest bid. Reviews from late 2025 echo the same shape: a neglected Cambridge yard turned around on schedule and on budget, a family-business feel that made customers comfortable enough to write their first review in years. Two things are worth asking about directly. Pricing comes up more than once as a premium rather than a bargain — fine if the design work justifies it, but worth getting a firm number before signing. And a review on a separate site describes a final invoice that landed at roughly 2.5 times the original quote for a small residential job; it's a single, undated account that doesn't match the tone of the Google and Houzz reviews, but it's worth asking for a written estimate and clarifying what could move the final bill before work starts. Jean Brooks Landscapes reads like the right call for a design-forward yard project — a full redesign, hardscaping, an ongoing maintenance relationship — rather than a quick mow-and-go. Get the design and pricing terms in writing, and the reviews suggest the follow-through matches the pitch.

Jean Brooks Landscapes did a great job with my small, awkwardly shaped yard. They were able to accommodate my request for local flora. They were professional the whole time. While not the cheapest option, their work is definitely worth the cost.

Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! From the customer service to the work itself, Jean Brooks Landscapes completely blows away the competition. I almost never write a review for anything, especially for a non-food related service, but I was struck by how kind and helpful everyone was. It really felt like a family business that you want to care about, the way they care about you! Not to mention, the price was unbeatable for the high quality, meticulous work done on my property. Would highly, highly recommend!!

I couldn’t be happier with the work Jean Brooks did for my property. From start to finish, they were professional, punctual, and incredibly detail-oriented. The crew took the time to understand exactly what I wanted and offered great suggestions that made the final result even better than I imagined. The quality of their work is top-notch—my property has never looked this good! They transformed the space with precision and creativity, and you can tell they genuinely care about their craft. Communication was clear throughout the entire process, and the team was friendly, respectful, and efficient. If you’re looking for a reliable landscaping company that delivers beautiful results, look no further. I highly recommend them and will definitely be using their services again!

Wonderful first year with our lawn!! I had Jean Brooke come out last spring and was so glad I did. They came up with an out of this world design and delivered on every part of it! My back patio is like a new room in my house. My family practically lived out there all summer. I would definitely recommend Jean Brooks to anyone!
