Keller Williams Realty Evolution is a franchise market center headquartered at 500 Cummings Center in Beverly, with four more offices in Newburyport, Reading, Revere and Topsfield. The company describes itself selling residential, condo, multi-family, luxury, land and commercial property across northeastern Massachusetts, southern Maine and southern New Hampshire, backed by the Keller Williams network it says numbers more than 180,000 associates. The office's own Google page tells a split story: 3.4 stars across 15 ratings, and the four written reviews divide cleanly by whether they're about a person or the office. The praise names names — in a 2021 review, a buyer described agent Maggie Pratt walking them through a 17th-century home in need of restoration with obvious care, and another 2021 reviewer called rental agent Nicholas the nicest person they'd dealt with. The complaints run the other way: a 2024 reviewer called the office's unsolicited mail and phone pitches to sell their home creepy and unprofessional, and a one-star 2022 review recounts a sour open-house experience at a Peabody listing dating to January 2021. That pattern — good marks for individual agents, gripes about office-level conduct — is the thing to act on. A market center this size is really a roster, so interview the specific agent who would represent you and judge their record, not the sign on the door. For buyers and sellers north of Boston who want a big-network brokerage, the reach is real; just choose the person, ask how they'll market or search for you, and if unsolicited outreach bothers you, say so up front.
Unprompted mail and phone call requests to sell my home with no price offer or explanation included are creepy and unprofessional. That should not be the behavior of any licensed real estate agent.
I attended an open house Shari and Steven McStay hosted for 151 Goodale St. Peabody, MA with my family on 1/23/2021. We have arrived on time for our 1:15 PM appointment. After our arrival, 2 more families arrived. Shari came outside and asked if we had an appointment and we said we did. She said she didn't see our name even though we gave her our agent's name, which was on the paper she held in her hand. She then asked the other people and allowed another family to enter and asked us to wait. I understand that she may have not seen the name on the paper (we had our tour guide's name on the paper and the agent). After the family entered she told us and the other family who did not have an appointment that the sellers are not interested in offers from people who are trying to sell their property and people who don't have a preapproval. We confirmed that we meet both criteria. She then asked us where we had our preapproval from, which is none of her business and she did not ask that to the other family or the first family she let in. The last thing she did was asking us how we would manage our 3 kids and that all of us need to sanitize our hands. This too was not asked the first family and I did not see it being asked to the next family as well (she may have asked it after us I am not sure). After I showed her our appointment from my phone she showed me the paper and apologized. But the attitude and the questions we were asked made me believed that we were not welcomed and I hope this is just a misunderstanding and has nothing to do with our ethnic/religious background. Steven, on the other hand, was very courteous and welcoming. But due to being extremely frustrated with all the "extra" questions, on top of the attitude we were given, we did not want to tour the house anymore and left after seeing the basement.
Regarding their agent, MAGGIE PRATT: We first met Maggie in July 2021 when we inquired about a 17th century, historic home in desperate need of restoration. When she met us at the house, it was quite obvious that she was not only a professional realtor who was happy to show us the house, she was ready for an adventure. This was the defining theme for the seven months spent searching for, buying, and closing on our dream home here in the North Shore. My husband and I were looking for something with "historic charm," and that could be anything from an 18th century colonial to a 1969 Cape with an original pink bathroom. Maggie quickly understood what we wanted and absolutely respected our budget. She showed us all sorts of houses that were quirky, weird, and wonderful. She was always honest about the repairs needed to be done and if she didn’t know something she went straight to the sellers’ realtor with questions. When our offer was accepted on the house we are currently moving into, Maggie stuck with us through the entire process — the bid, the paperwork, the laws, the mortgage, the closing, etc. She fights for her clients and will go through great lengths to push things forward and get answers. She was constantly in touch with us and we never felt in the dark or abandoned. She is professional, knows her stuff, and can move mountains when things get bumpy. I am so happy Maggie was our realtor, and I am deeply honored to now call her a friend. She is a good person with integrity and tons of grit. If you want a realtor you can trust and who won’t ignore you, go with Maggie Pratt! She’s the best.
Met up with possible rental agent. His name was Nicholas. Nicest person ever. Definitely would use him as a real estate agent possibly in the future.
