Tim Kihiko's name runs through nearly every review of his Tyngsborough company, and the most convincing account is not the most glowing one. In September 2024 a customer gave four stars and spelled out why: he arrived with colour samples when other companies had none, matched the shade they had pictured on the first try, and the cleaning crew covered everything and cleared the dust when the job was done. Pain-free, that customer wrote — and added they never say that about contractors. Kihiko Construction presents itself as a basement-conversion specialist with kitchen and bathroom renovations and painting alongside. What customers describe is broader: a full-house renovation in March 2024 covering sheetrock, ceilings and painting; a house repaint in August 2024 the owner credits with a sale within a day; a paint job on a new commercial building in Tewksbury; and, from a property manager that same month, repeat work turning rented units around — cabinets, floors, clean-outs. Two things to weigh before calling. The one low rating on file, from August 2021, is not about the work — that reviewer called it perfect and the price fair — but about what came after: outdoor lighting and outlets that were agreed and never installed, and then no reply to the customer's messages. Get the full scope in writing and hold back a portion of payment until the last item is signed off. The second is the shape of the reviews themselves. Three long five-star accounts were posted on a single day in August 2024, and two more, two days apart that November, open with almost the same sentence. That pattern is irregular enough that no rating is published here, even though Google's own average sits at 4.3 across 12 ratings and several of the accounts read as plainly genuine. Separately, a June 2026 Hoodline article describes Tim Kihiko — the name reviewers use — as the local developer who bought Lowell's long-vacant Superior Courthouse for $1.925 million. That is a different line of work from finishing a basement, and it is worth knowing whose attention you would be competing for. If you want a painter and remodeller who turns up on the job himself, ask for two recent local references you can actually call, and pin the punch list down in writing before anyone starts.
“In a few fast minutes on Wednesday, local developer Tim Kihiko walked away with one of downtown Lowell’s biggest question marks: the long‑vacant Lowell Superior Courthouse on Gorham Street. Kihiko put down $1.925 million for the block‑long building, a deal that also folds in four parking lots across the street and comes with housing restrictions and a requirement for a quick closing. The more than 65,000‑square‑foot property has sat largely unused since court operations shifted to the new justice center in 2020, and city and state officials at the sale cast the outcome as a win for both the St”

This company is wonderful! First, they were friendly, professional, punctual and extremely reasonable. I was impressed with Tim’s knowledge and willingness to really explain the process, time-frame, etc. He also had samples, where other companies did not, and picked out the perfect color I had envisioned on his first try. You can tell he knows this business and cares. The entire process was pain-free (and I never say that when it comes to contractors) and they did a fabulous job. I also can't believe how their cleaning crew covered everything so well and really cleaned up the dusty-mess afterwards. The process and the end result were wonderful and I would highly recommend them to everybody and anybody. This company is amazing!
