Kitchens, bathrooms, decks and a ramp: Legacy Homeworks takes on the remodeling jobs that change how a house works, and its website pitches kitchen and bathroom renovations to homeowners across Central Maine. A recent customer had Jim help with a kitchen remodel, said he always showed up on time, and plans to hire him for an addition. A recent customer moving from Philadelphia to Skowhegan needed a ramp added to their new home and praised his craftsmanship and his design of the ramp. A 2025 customer said the work transformed the attic of a small cape into two wood rooms and a half bathroom, on an estimate better than others they found. A 2025 customer said a window replacement project led to the discovery of significant structural deficiencies in the foundation sills of a 50-plus-year-old home, and that the house is rock solid now with a new deck. A 2025 customer said James rebuilt both of their decks and replaced a few kitchen tiles. Two recent jobs went badly. A customer who had siding and soffit installed on a home and barn said a portion has already fallen off and Legacy will not respond anymore, after several months of delays before the project started. A customer whose bathroom and jet tub project was finished said the hot and cold water were switched and the water came out orange, said holes were opening in the mud between the wall tiles, and said they are now paying someone else to fix it.
I had some siding and soffit installed on my home and barn this summer. Unfortunately, a portion has fallen off already and Legacy will not respond to me anymore. Jim had several months of delays with starting this project but was typically decent at communicating so the failure to address this is very disappointing.
Awful costumer service doesn’t even describe my experience with this guy. I guess it should have been a red flag when it took him months just to come out and give me a price on the work. But I thought well he’s got great reviews what I didn’t know at the time is that he’s a new business .. being why I felt it necessary to tell my story so nobody else has to waste their time and money on somebody who truly doesn’t care. After he said he was all finished me and my husband were looking it all over and the first thing we noticed is our hot and cold water were switched and our water is ORANGE! Then we started questioning why he left a random piece of trim in the middle of our wall. I ended up messaging him and he made every excuse to not come out and fix this ridiculous piece of trim in which he told me to go find stain that would match. I attempted that and it looked ridiculous so again messaged him and showed him what it should look like in which he argued saying it couldn’t be done. I FINALLY got him to come back out and guess what it could be done and it looks better now. The issue it’s been over 3 months my water is still orange and is now staining my brand new jet bathtub and the water temps are still switched! I’m now in the process of paying someone else to fix it in which the guy told me he did the job wrong!! Not only that but the mudd between the tiles on my wall is starting to have holes in it so I’m going to have to have someone come fix that.this project was for my bathroom and a jet tub I have wanted forever now. Now when I look at my new tub it’s just upsetting. I hope this review can help someone else from having the same experience because we all know how pricey these projects get.
Jim was fantastic. I had him help me with a kitchen remodel. He always showed up on time, had a great attitude and was actually willing to do the work unlike so few people around here. Im gonna hire him again to do an addition for me as well
Does awesome work always on schedule and has good rates as well
Someone fair and reasonable to work with. If I need anything else done, I will absolutely hire again.
