Long is a replacement contractor rather than a repair shop — roofs, tub-to-shower conversions, windows and doors, quoted by a representative who comes to the house and then installed fast. A 2021 HomeAdvisor customer watched the roof crew work all day harnessed the whole time and called the finished roof tight and well ventilated; another that year noted nobody on their phone and no messing about. Best Pick survey respondents describe one-day roof installs, punctual crews and thorough cleanup. The complaints are not about the installation. They are about what happens after the crew leaves. In May 2023 a tub-to-shower customer was still waiting on the final plumbing inspection with a patch left on the wall, and said calls were going largely ignored. In July 2023 a job booked for two days ran eight, a water line was damaged and took the ceiling with it, and the customer asked for $2,000 off and settled at $1,000. In June 2023 a roofing customer had nothing bad to say about the roof and a great deal to say about the service around it. In May 2024 one shower wall that was supposed to be extended about four inches simply wasn't. The written accounts on file run 2020 to 2024 and stop, so the current picture leans on the aggregates: Best Pick Reports averages 4.7 across 2,179 ratings, Angi 4.7 across 154, HomeAdvisor 4.5 across 21. The BBB has the company accredited with an A+ since January 2022, and lists both a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration and a construction supervisor licence for it — directory records rather than anything confirmed against the state registry here. Price sits at the top of the market. A 2023 HomeAdvisor reviewer put a bathroom project at $37,000 and another job at $39,000. Financing comes up in the Best Pick survey comments, with the interest rate described as high by a respondent who took it anyway. This is the outfit for a full roof or a bath conversion you want done in a day or two with a long warranty behind it, if you are comfortable paying accordingly. Write the punch-list items, the inspection sign-off and the completion date into the contract, hold back a payment until the last one is closed, and get a name and a direct number for whoever owns the job once installation day is over — that is where the unhappy customers here lost their footing.

Contracted Long Baths to install new shower on 3/21/24. Salesmen were very professional. 4/18/24 New shower installed. The contractors did a terrific job on the installation, very hard working contractors. All was good, except they were suppose to extend one shower wall about 4 inches around corner. They did not do that and they knew nothing of this. Called that very day to Long Baths, left message to call back. No call back! Called a few times and finally spoke to representative. She said she would have someone call us. No call back! Called one of the salesmen. He remembered our conversation of wanted one wall to be extended to cover a problem area. He also said he would call us back. No call back! Its now, 2 weeks later and still no call back?? Bottom line, do not contract Long Baths - bad customer relations! ($23,000, Bathroom Remodel)

Shower has not yet been installed; probably some time in December, so cannot rate the work quality at this time. However, provided the best technical product and the best proposal, although not the lowest price, but the quality of their product and presentation was what won us over.

- behind the score: Post-install follow-up — several reviewers describe unreturned calls after payment
What does a roof replacement cost in Greater Boston?
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Long Home Products. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
A square is 100 sq ft of roof surface — bigger than the floor plan because of pitch and overhangs.
Estimated range
$9,000 – $18,600
Typical roofing project around $13,800
