M.J. McKernan Enterprises is a Foxboro excavation and septic outfit — the company that arrives with the machine, not the crew that finishes the room. By its own account it handles residential and commercial excavation, land clearing, grading and drainage, foundation and demolition work, septic installation, repair, pumping and Title V inspections, plus dumpster rental and commercial snow removal. It describes itself as veteran-owned, family-owned and local, and both Angi and HomeAdvisor carry the veteran-owned label.
Its written history is small and dated: six reviews averaging 4.4★, all from 2021 and 2022, with the same six-review record published on both Angi and HomeAdvisor. The good ones agree on the same things — a December 2022 customer said calls and emails were answered right away, the crew showed up on time, and the estimate was reasonable; a June 2022 reviewer recommended Mike for landscaping work; a September 2021 customer had landscape stone pulled out and replaced with loam and was pleased with the result.
The exception is specific, and it matters. In a March 2022 two-star review, a customer said they had asked for yard grading and topsoil and were told the loam would contain only a few fist-sized rocks — then got what they described as junk from a construction site, dropped by someone who did not work for the company, leaving them with huge rocks. If material is part of your job, that is the thing to nail down: where the loam comes from, whether it is screened, who is doing the delivering, and what happens if what lands in the yard is not what was quoted.
A few other details are worth knowing. The years-in-business figures do not agree — the company's site claims more than ten years, while its Angi and HomeAdvisor highlights say five. Those same directory profiles state that no warranties are offered, with jobs listed between $350 and $10,000, and the pages are filed under a different trading name, MJM Logistics. The site says licensed and insured; that is the company's own wording, not anything confirmed against a state registry.
For site work, a septic installation or a Title V inspection around Foxboro, put the scope, the material specification and the warranty position in writing before the trucks roll.
