A local news site has described Madison Earth Care as a family-owned garden center and landscaping service in Madison. The company says it is a second-generation, woman-owned business that has served the Connecticut shoreline since 1972. A 2025 customer said Madison Earth Care built a 2-tier stone patio on top of an elevated septic system at a summer home, with pitching that was different for each tier. That 2025 customer said Jay came out on a rainy Saturday to address their questions and verify there was no puddling, and wrote that they aren't cheap. In a 2025 review, a customer said the fine gardening crew had been maintaining their perennial gardens for many years, arriving once a month to prune, deadhead and fertilize. A 2026 customer said James developed a landscaping plan for their property over the summer and fall, and the planting was done late that fall. A 2023 customer said they installed granite stairs and a blue stone walkway at a house in Essex. On Google the company holds 4.2 stars from 59 ratings, and its BBB grade is A+. Some jobs went badly. A 2023 customer said they spent over $15,000 on a front yard and pool area, more than half of the plants died in less than a year, and they heard nothing back after being told it would be taken care of. A 2024 customer said they sent a deposit for a project leading to their pond, then cancelled after calls about the schedule were not returned. A 2022 customer said a delivery of what was supposed to be screened topsoil was full of glass. In a 2022 review, a customer who chose the highest of three quotes described wrong plant varieties, soaker hoses that flooded the gardens and damage to existing granite steps, and said the promised spring corrections did not happen. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0539556, as active, held by Madison Earth Care Serv Inc.

We worked this summer and fall with James developing a landscaping plan for our property. He was very knowledgeable and very patient with explaining different planting options. We are very pleased with the design. The planting was done late this fall by a crew who were amazing. We are very excited to see the plantings as they emerge this spring. Everyone we dealt with was very nice and efficient. And a big shout out to the very talented James Randall! We look forward to working with you more in the near future.
I would like to take this time to say how extremely impressed my wife and I are with the complete redesign of our backyard. Madison Earth care under the direction of Rachel ,the owner, exceeded our expectations in creating our backyard paradise. Rachel‘s attention to detail and design expertise are outstanding. Rachel is both kind and patient And was very easy to work with. The team at Madison Earth, CARE were also on point and very professional they always left the Yard neat and tidy. We would not hesitate to recommend Madison Earthcare for any outdoor projects.
I was visiting friends in Madison and had remembered passing this place many times over the winter. I stopped in a couple weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised at their sweet gift shop. I bought a couple beautiful Fall flowers that were quite large for $6! The staff couldn't have been more friendly and kind. I will be stopping there next time I am in town.
I wanted to take a moment to share just how much Spencer has meant to our family — not just as a landscaper, but as someone who has truly become part of our home and our lives. From the very beginning, Spencer brought more than just talent and professionalism — he brought heart. He’s friendly, down-to-earth, and the kind of person you instantly trust. Over time, he’s become more than “the guy who does our yard.” He’s the person we call when we have an idea, a vision, or even just a vague thought of what could be. And somehow, he always brings it to life — better than we imagined. Truthfully, we were at a point where we were considering moving. But thanks to Spencer — especially his help with transforming our outdoor space and reimagining our pool area — we decided to stay. He helped us fall in love with our home again. That’s not just landscaping. That’s someone who listens, understands, and puts real care into everything he does. Spencer has turned our yard into a place where we make memories, host friends and family, and genuinely love spending time. He’s not just improving our property — he’s improving our way of living. Our kids adore him. Our dogs go crazy when they see him pull up. And we trust him completely — because he’s not just talented, he’s truly a good person. We feel incredibly lucky to have Spencer in our lives, and anyone else who works with him will see right away: he’s one of a kind. Warmly, The Brinn Family
