Magee Roofing is a Sudbury roofing contractor run by Shawn Magee, who says he has 20 years in the trade, doing roof installations, carpentry, gutters and ice dam protection across a wide stretch of towns west and north of Boston. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active on the state registry. The company's site lists a Mass CSSL number, 105983. Google shows 4.2 stars from 14 ratings. Four customers describe trouble getting the company to show up or call back. In an August 2026 Google review, a homeowner said Shawn twice said he would come inspect the roof and did not show up either time, then said it was too far. In a March 2026 review, a customer who paid $17,000 for four skylights and part of a roof, replaced in 4/2024, praised the post-construction cleanup but said the new skylights leaked after the first snowstorm, that all of the work needed replacing, and that three attempts to reach the company got no response. A September 2021 reviewer said the town inspector failed the new roof because bathroom and kitchen fan ducts were left venting into the attic, that it took a long time to get the crew back to fix it, that leaks followed within five years, and that the company was impossible to reach about repairs. A May 2020 BuildZoom reviewer said a worker dropped a tool that damaged a new cedar deck and calls about restoring it went unanswered. Happier customers describe careful work at fair prices: a November 2024 customer praised the crew's attention to detail, a March 2023 customer said a flashing replacement was well organized and fairly priced, and a September 2023 customer who had a new roof from the company 14 years earlier said a recent repair got a quick response.
Called shawn 2x and 2x said he was coming to inspect my roof. Didn't show up either time. Originally asked if he did roofs in my area and he stated yes but then when asking why he didn't show up stated it was too far to inspect the roof.
We had 4 skylights and part of the roof replaced 4/2024 for $17,000.00. The post construction clean up was exceptional. The roofing material they use is CertainTeed ( best product on the market). The new skylights started leaking after the first snowstorm. We needed buckets, and a plastic sled under multiple leaks in our kitchen and porch. We tried contacting them 3 times and got no response. The material and work is less than 2 years old and ALL of it needs to be replaced. Improving communication with customers would benefit everyone, especially since this happened to a senior citizen who is a veteran. This company is not part of the Better Business Bureau
Sidney and Marcello (and crew) are amazing, highly skilled craftsmen that obviously care about their work. They are also great communicators. Their attention to detail, careful efficient execution, timeliness, and an all around obvious determination to do the job right are invaluable. Their prices are very fair, too. I highly recommend them!
