Mainely Ducts is a duct cleaning outfit that also takes on ductwork replacement, with a 4.7-star average from 7 Google ratings. A 2026 customer said they first hired the company for duct cleaning after a major home renovation and found it prompt and professional, with photos of the completed work. About a year later, after mice damaged their flex ductwork, that customer hired it again to replace the system with metal ducts on a quote of about $6,000. The job was estimated at one day once materials arrived and took several weeks. The same 2026 customer said the final invoice came in below the quote and the heating system was operational when tested. The ending is where it went wrong for them: texts requesting immediate payment arrived the day after the emailed invoice, they were told they could not turn on the heating system or have a third party inspect the installation before the company's own final inspection, and they were told that missing a 24–48 hour window could result in small claims court. At the inspection, that customer found the bathroom heating vent disconnected without notice and portions of the duct insulation unfinished. A 2024 customer said David was completely professional, very thorough and very polite on a duct cleaning job. A 2022 customer said Mainely Ducts was timely, friendly and thorough, and recommended Dave and his team for commercial spaces or any residential property.
I initially hired Mainely Ducts for duct cleaning after a major home renovation, and that experience was positive. They were prompt, professional, provided photos of the completed work, and I was happy with the service. About a year later, after mice damaged our flex ductwork, I hired them again to replace the system with metal ducts. They assured me this was work they were experienced with, quoted approximately $6,000, estimated the project would take one day once materials arrived, and required a 50% deposit. The project ultimately took several weeks instead of one day. While frustrating, I understood that construction projects don't always go according to plan, and communication throughout most of the project was acceptable. My concerns began when the work was finished. On a Saturday I received a final invoice by email with no indication that the project was complete. There were still project materials and debris on the property, and the invoice itself showed a due date months in the future. The following day, Sunday, I began receiving text messages requesting immediate payment and asking to come to my home to collect it. When I explained that I wanted to verify the system was working properly before paying the remaining balance, I was told I could not turn on the heating system, inspect the work under my home, or have a third party inspect the installation before Mainely Ducts performed its own final inspection. I was told doing so could void the warranty. This was the first time I had ever heard of these requirements. I had never been provided the warranty or terms and conditions during the quoting or construction process. I was then given 24–48 hours to schedule the inspection and payment and was told that failure to do so could result in small claims court. Because of how confrontational the communication had become, I no longer felt comfortable attending the inspection alone. I was increasingly uneasy that I was being told I could not verify the work myself, could not confirm the system was operational, and could not have another professional inspect the installation before paying the final invoice. Those demands raised significant concerns for me as a homeowner, so I arranged for my husband and father to be present during the inspection. Rather than responding professionally, I received comments suggesting I needed my father there to "hold my hand." During the inspection, we discovered that the bathroom heating vent had been disconnected from the system without that ever being communicated to me. We also found portions of the duct insulation unfinished, and I was eventually told the crew had run out of insulation before completing those areas. To be fair, the final invoice came in below the original quoted amount, and the heating system was operational when tested. My dissatisfaction is not because the project took longer than expected. It is because of how the final inspection and payment process were handled. In over ten years of hiring contractors, I have never experienced a contractor demanding payment less than one business day after sending an invoice, insisting I could not verify the work before paying, threatening legal action within 48 hours, and making personal remarks when I requested family be present during the inspection. The system appears to function, but the customer experience left me feeling pressured, dismissed, and uncomfortable. If I had known the project would end this way, I would have hired a different company.
On the telephone, I was a little apprehensive because of David’s youthful enthusiasm for something as mundane as duct cleaning. I took a chance and when he got on the job, I realized this man loves what he is doing. He was completely professional, very thorough, very polite. He did an amazing job and I honestly don’t know how I lived in this place with my ducks so disgusting. I’m happy to provide my highest recommendation
