McKusick Petroleum is a Dover-Foxcroft heating-oil dealer. The company says it has been helping Maine residents and businesses through cold winters since 1972, and that owner and operator John McKusick has built a family of services including home heating oil, fuel oil, motor oil, propane, gasoline and automotive service. On Google it holds 4.5 stars from 37 ratings, and its Better Business Bureau grade is A+. A 2026 customer said that when their heat pipes froze, they came right over within 1.5 hours and fixed everything, and that on the day of an oil leak they were there in less than 15 minutes. That 2026 customer also wrote, "Oil deliveries are always on time." A 2025 customer described two stoves installed and a big propane tank replaced, with the old tank returned to the owner for credit. A 2024 customer said they had used the company for a new stove install, an on-demand hot water system and their fuel supply. A 2023 customer said their mom had no heat during a cold weekend and that they were prompt and fixed the problem quickly. A 2022 customer had a repair person at their home within hours of losing heat on the main floor. A 2025 customer wrote that the company came four times for the same issue and kept changing parts until they sent the right guy, and that four tries about a control panel under warranty had brought nothing. A 2023 customer wrote that the company did not show up to deliver oil on the normal day and then wanted to charge an extra fee. A 2022 customer wrote that the company installs and services York equipment but refused to service their unit because they got propane from another company.
I have had absolutely the best service anywhere from McKusick. This winter has been horrendous. Frozen pipes, no heat, and today, an oil leak. The day I called about the heat pipes being frozen, they came right over, within 1.5 hours and fixed everything. Today, literally, from the time I called and sent pictures, it was less than 15 minutes and they were there and fixed the issue, which, fortunately was minor. Oil deliveries are always on time and everyone is so friendly and helpful. I can't recommend them enough!
Great.deliveries, on time and efficient. Excellent service, two stoves installed, friendly and knowledgeable service personnel. Big propane tank replaced and old tank returned to owner for credit without a hitch. Super polite, helpful office staff always willing to help and coordinate our requests. Highly recommend McKusick Petroleum.
