Montpelier Stove & Flag Works sells stoves, stove accessories and flags, and the company says it has been in business for 50 years. A 2025 customer said a tech came to the house within 2 days of the call, replaced the original distribution fan on a roughly 20-year-old Harman pellet stove and had it working within an hour. A 2025 customer said a Harman stove was bought there and installed, and that Brook and two colleagues cleaned the floor before the install. A 2021 customer said the shop does not service stoves it did not sell, but supplied parts and tips for the work. In a January 2026 r/vermont comment, a poster said the Montpelier shop was great to work with and more affordable than other places they checked. A 2024 customer called the service rude and unhelpful when shopping for two wood stoves and two chimneys, and bought the stove from the importer instead. A 2023 customer said calls to the shop went unanswered. A local news site quoted owner Ray Plagge on the rules for selling state flags.

The best customer service from in the showroom with Freff to the folks who did our install. They were wonderful and the propane insert is beautiful and so warm. They went above and beyond making our stove and surround look wonderful. Highly recommend WC Heating (Billy Comi) too for their work with our propane lines. Highly recommend, so happy, just amazing!

Had a distribution fan failure in my ~20y/o Harman pellet stove over Thanksgiving weekend, right as the cold season was starting. Tech came to the house within 2 days of my call, replaced the part (which was the original distribution fan from decades ago), got the stove working within an hour, and took time to discuss all the maintenance, troubleshooting, and upkeep. I am throughly impressed. I cannot compliment this group of professionals enough. Between walk-in questions at the storefront and this amazing service call, I feel like I am getting tip-top service. Thank you all so much for helping me keep warm.
Sitting by our new harman pellet stove and we couldn't be happier with the experience from Montpelier Stove and Flag Works. I met with Freff a couple times and he helped me work through the setup and dealing with an annoying layout that they were able to work around and solve. The install team was great as well; professional, knowledgable, and friendly. Couldn't recommend them enough!
