In a February 2026 Google review, a homeowner described calling around for new garage door struts, sending Chris photos at his suggestion, and watching him fix the door the next day without installing the struts at all — "saved me a lot of money," the customer wrote. MT Hope Garage Door is a Bristol, RI garage door business that says it has been at it for 13 years, with a stated service area that covers Barrington, Bristol, East Providence, Newport, Portsmouth, Tiverton and Middletown on the Rhode Island side and Fall River, Somerset, Swansea and Rehoboth in Massachusetts. On Google it holds 4.6 stars from 32 ratings. The most recent written review, from August 2026, is a new opener installed the day after the old one died. Earlier accounts follow the same lines: in an August 2025 review, Chris and a coworker repaired a door whose track had ripped off the wall, and a May 2025 reviewer called his pricing "more than fair" and said he had bailed them out many times. One December 2025 Google review went the other way. After the crew replaced a broken spring, the customer got a call saying the motor was now broken and would cost $525 to replace; the customer wrote that the motor worked before the spring job. Chris then offered to replace it for free, but the customer felt taken advantage of, did not want the crew back, and planned to hire another company for the motor. Rhode Island's contractor registry lists the company's home improvement registration, GC-39895, as expired; the registry's own word for it is "INVALID".
Needed a new garage door opener when mine died. They came the next day and was professional and got right to it. Installed a very nice quite unit. Great experience.
MT Hope Garage Door is only company you need to call when you need a garage door repair. Chris and his crew are everything you want--honest, expert, prompt, and courteous. I was trying to buy some new struts for my garage door and so I was calling around for prices. I thought new struts would realign my panels. Chris, on his own initiative, asked me if I wanted to send him some pictures of my door. I did, and he replied that he wasn’t sure if the struts would solve my problem. I said I’d still like to get the new struts, and then asked how much if he installed them. It was such a reasonable price I decided to allow him to do the work (I had been thinking that I would install them myself). A day later he arrived with the struts, but after looking at my door, he took a different approach—he fixed the door, didn’t install the new struts (which it turns out I didn’t need), and saved me a lot of money. I’ll never forget seeing the struts up on his truck as he asked me, “Do you still want the new struts?” Honesty, expert skill, dependable—that’s MT Hope Garage Door.
I called Chris because he was recommended in the town FB group where I live. My garage door was not opening, and he asked me to send him a picture. He said the spring was broken. His crew came a couple of days later and installed a temporary fix while they ordered a new spring. A few days after that, they returned to install it. However, I then received a call from Chris saying that the motor was now broken and that it would cost $525 to replace it. The motor was not broken prior to the spring replacement. After talking to my husband, Chris offered to pay for the motor and install it for free. I feel that I was taken advantage of by his company. The situation seems odd—the motor was working, then I was asked to pay $525 to replace it, and suddenly he was willing to replace it for free. Unfortunately, I did not feel comfortable having the crew return to my home after what happened. The spring was replaced, but now I need to call another company to have the motor replaced.
Chris and one of his coworkers were absolutely amazing! I was In a panic when my garage door broke/ track even ripped off the wall! Chris and his coworker fixed the garage asap! I couldn’t be happier with their service. Very professional and personable people! Very grateful for them both and their help! Thanks so very much to the both of you!
Chris at Mt. Hope Garage Door is as good as it gets. Incredibly polite, truly professional, and always fast to respond. His pricing is more than fair, and he’s bailed me out more times than I can count. You’d be a fool to use anyone else. Five stars without hesitation—he’s earned it every single time.
