Murphy & Son's Welding

Terrible experience with Murphy and Sons on a railing project in Norwalk. I dealt directly with the owner, who I believe is named James, and I would not recommend them. The entire job has been filled with delays and excuses. During fabrication, I was given a contract and timeline, but it still took weeks longer than expected. I was repeatedly told he was busy with other projects, that mine was a “small project,” or that he wasn’t in the area and therefore couldn’t come do the install. The powder coating has been even worse. For roughly three weeks, I have been told over and over that the railings would be picked up “tomorrow.” As of writing this review, we are still waiting for him to come pick them up. I also attached photos showing the condition the railings were left in while we continue waiting for him to finish what was agreed to. Communication has been just as frustrating. Instead of picking up the phone and resolving issues professionally, everything turns into an argument over text. He acts as though his schedule is the only one that matters and everyone else simply has to work around him. Payment has also somehow been made into an issue despite me paying him for the work he completed. In my experience, having a contract, agreed timeline, and clear expectations meant very little. If you need a contractor who keeps his word, respects deadlines, communicates professionally, and follows what was agreed to, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere. This job has been delayed far more than it ever should have been, and dealing with Murphy and Sons has been unnecessarily difficult from beginning to end.

We had welding work that needed to be done on a Bilco door, and James at Murphy and Sons Welding was excellent to work with. He came out the same day we called, assessed the issue, and took the door back to his shop. The repair was completed quickly, and he returned the very next day to reinstall it. The workmanship was solid, professional, and done right. We really appreciated the responsiveness, efficiency, and care taken with the repair. It’s great to have a reliable welder in the Northwest CT Corner— I would absolutely recommend Murphy and Sons Welding for your projects and needs.
